ROVE said COOPERATING in CIA LEAK INQUIRY- Rawstory
Edited on Mon Mar-27-06 12:31 PM by stop the bleeding

Larisa Alexandrovna
Published: Monday March 27, 2006

Karl Rove, Deputy White House Chief of Staff and special adviser to President George W. Bush, has recently been providing information to special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald in the ongoing CIA leak investigation, sources close to the investigation say.

According to several Pentagon sources close to Rove and others familiar with the inquiry, Bush's senior adviser tipped off Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald to information that led to the recent "discovery" of 250 pages of missing email from the office of Vice President Dick Cheney.

~snip~

According to one source close to the case, Rove is providing information on deleted emails, erased hard drives and other types of obstruction by staff and other officials in the Vice President's office. Pentagon sources close to Rove confirmed this account.

None would name the staffers and/or officials whom Rove is providing information about. They did, however, explain that the White House computer system has "real time backup" servers and that while emails were deleted from computers, they were still retrievable from the backup system. By providing the dates and recipient information of the deleted emails, sources say, Rove was able to chart a path for Fitzgerald directly into the office of the Vice President.

8. I just watched "Silver City"
and the Rove character sandbags his critics so their reputations are shot and they are unhirable. Rove has definitely made a career doing this to people. I hope he's running out of tricks. Let's cross our fingers and hope this time Rove will get nailed and take a few out with him.

11. Sadly Raw also says this:
<snip>

Whether or not Rove's recent cooperation will spare him an indictment and a Fitzgerald probe remains unclear. But according to last week's New York Times, associates say Rove is "increasingly certain" he will not be indicted in the case.

I hope Karl is wrong.

24. Rove is the deal maker or enabler
He is not in the decision making apparatus like the Pentagon, Intelligence, President, etc. Rove appears to be the salesman for this corrupt corporation.

Who will be Rove's next candidate to put in high places? Polishing that resume for sure. Will Rove testify in this mess? Nothing would be more satisfying than watching this worm squirm.

Cheney's such an arrogant meglamaniac - wouldn't Rove be slightly scared of him (especially forgoing going on a hunting trip with him)? I'm sure Cheney will be taken care of by the Boooshes; if not, that's a real lesson for all about lying down with Rethuglicans.

gives me shivers. The real fun begins now. We can pretty much guess who he squealing on. What I find interesting is that pentagon sources are being quoted. Maybe there is a twofer going on here; Rove gets back at Libby and Cheney for "tricking" him into breaking the law and the Pentagon nails Cheney and his neocon cabal. An "the enemy of my enemy..." situation.

I wasn't aware that Rove was close to the Pentagon. Are we talking about someone in Rummy's office? Or, does RawStory have sources inside NSA or DIA, or what? Very intriguing.

Wouldn't it be interesting to find out that the NSA runs the White House backup communications system. That makes sense.

looking back at Jason Leopold's February 24, 2006 report on TruthOut: "Plame Whistleblowers Targeted by Administration." It contained a good bit of valuable information, though it was overshadowed by the "White House 'Discovers' 250 Emails Related to Plame Leak." The first should be viewed in the context of the Pentagon; the second, in terms of Judge Walton.

"erased hard drives and other types of obstruction by staff and other officials in the Vice President's office." 'Obstruction' is a mighty big word in this context.

The article also brings up again that Gonzales waited 12 hours to (officially) notify WH staff to retain records. He doubtless whispered warnings to some in the interim.

Wouldn't it be interesting to have The Attorney General of The United States indicted for Obstruction of Justice.

32. Yes, indeed - not that he would be the first Republican AG indicted.
Mitchell, John Newton, 1913–88, U.S. Attorney General (1969–72), b. Detroit. A law partner of Richard M. Nixon, he managed Nixon's 1968 presidential campaign and was made (1969) Attorney General. In Mar., 1972, he became head of the Nixon reelection committee, but he resigned in June, following the break-in at the Watergate offices of the Democratic National Committee by employees of the reelection committee. Subsequent investigations of the Watergate affair led to Mitchell's indictment, trial, and conviction (Jan. 1, 1975) on charges of conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and perjury. He was also tried, but acquitted (Apr., 1974), on charges related to the secret contributions to Nixon's campaign funds made by financier Robert Vesco.

that bastard doesn't do anything.....his only 'client' is the President, remember? Fitz prolly wanted to pound Gonzo's arse in the ground and slap the cuffs on him. You know that little arrogant weasel tries to throw his weight around. Ack! I cannot get watching him testify at the hearings out of my head.....

1993 World Trade Center false flag
Who Bombed the U.S. World Trade Center? — 1993

Growing Evidence Points to Role of FBI Operative

By Ralph Schoenman

(published in Prevailing Winds Magazine, Number 3, 1993

Simultaneous with the detonation of an explosive bomb at the World Trade Center in New York on February 26 of this year (1993), FBI investigators were en route to New York.

"Even as office workers were trying to pry their way out of stalled elevators or stagger down smoky stairwells in the wake of a devastating explosion last Friday," wrote Ronald J. Ostrow and Robin Wright (Los Angeles Times, March 3, 1993), under the headline "U.S. Tackling Blast Probe on Unprecedented Scale," "a special team of men and women were leaving FBI headquarters here for the next flight to New York."

Not only the FBI was so prompt. "Thousands of people and dozens of agencies here and abroad sprang into action. ‘I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything bigger, except maybe the Kennedy Assassination,’ said one counter terrorism official."

Officials declared that the vast scale of their "investigation" notwithstanding, "it will take several months (emphasis added) before the forensic aspects are completed," if only because the bombing "could," according to CIA analyst Graham Fuller, "be an operational decision dating back a year that doesn’t have any relationship with immediate events" (Ibid.).

The ink wasn’t dry on the press release before the discovery of the alleged culprit in the bombing was announced by these same agencies within hours of their prior declaration, evincing investigative skills that eclipsed any heretofore in evidence. How was this accomplished?

150. You want facts?
Edited on Wed Mar-29-06 08:37 AM by symbolman
I spent a year researching this subject and frankly a lot of what I've seen that is couched by you and yours as some kind of brilliant coup, my film "Rove's War" had much of what you brought up many times here, and I created it MONTHS ago, all still valid, a complete chronology, not bits and pieces doled out.

Insult me all you want, make claims that because I didn't mention TPM or others who I have tremendous respect for, who actually DO have inside information that isn't coming off a WaPost WIRE, then written about like it's brand new, is only more telling about your own style of Drudge Lite as many do call it.

For me not to mention these sites means that I don't respect them? I just love watching you tie TWO completely seperate subjects together and then use them as some kind of insult or scoop.. if you read your own postings you might notice the disparity of your arguements and accusations, it would be funny if it wasn't so constant. Straw men, Red Herrings abound.

That's just nutty, get a grip yourself if that's even possible.

148. By the way, I do think that Firedoglake is a good site...
Just fyi. The only experts on this are the journalists covering it: Waas, Leopold, Sale, etc. Don't confuse their hard work with speculation. It is not fair to them and don't think they are not frustrated by these comments. You cannot possibly equate someone speculating vs. someone actually reporting and think it will not make a stink, can you? Next Hurrah is an excellent Plame source, as are many sites that I admire, including Firedoglake. But It is really sad that you would downplay the work of one person in order to promote another person, who frankly, is not the heavy lifter in this case. As I have said, I like Firedoglake, but if you want an expert blog on this, Next Hurrah or Talkleft or Left Coaster or TPM would qualify as very on top of this and reporters that I mentioned (I won't presume to put me in the same category) are absolutely key in this. So have some respect for the hard work of people and stop with your insults and obsession with taking down anything I do. Really, are you not bored with yourself yet?

120. Yep.
It's also important for folks to remember that Mr. Fitzgerald has worked on cases involving "organized crime," and they tend to take a long time. While many of us would like it to happen at a quicker pace, the prosecutor is doing things correctly.

121. "Bush should be held accountable."
Damn right! He will skate with plausible deniabilty unless a doc shows up which implicates him. Hell if he can publically announce that he has violated the FISA Law and skate this will be nothing.

The Bush Doctrine: "Above the Law and Unaccountable"

119. A theory
Edited on Mon Mar-27-06 09:05 PM by FatDave
Here's my theory: This is a plan to retain a republican white house in '08. Throw Cheney to the wolves, then move McCain in as VP. McCain then gets to run as incumbent in '08. We all know how McCain's been tossing Bush's salad, and this could be the reason.

On edit: If this is the plan, Cheney must not be playing ball with it, or he could have stepped aside "for health reasons". Maybe he didn't play ball and now must face Rove's wrath.

125. It could happen
Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

25th Amendment

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twenty-fifth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution

If thats what the plan is then they certainly could do it... as long as they do it soon enough.. If they waited too long to push Cheney out then the dems could have control of the house and vote that down.

Like I said before fatdave McCains lips are firmly applied to shrubs rear... but with shrubs poll numbers who in the house, in their right mind, would want just another bush taody?

Of course a lot of the people in the houses aren't in their right mind.

132. Here is the line of succession
George W. Bush

Dick Cheney, Vice President
J. Dennis Hastert, Speaker of the House of Representatives
Ted Stevens, President pro tempore of the Senate
Condoleezza Rice, Secretary of State
John W. Snow, Secretary of the Treasury
Donald H. Rumsfeld, Secretary of Defense
Alberto Gonzales, Attorney General
Gale Norton, Secretary of the Interior
Mike Johanns, Secretary of Agriculture
Carlos Gutierrez, Secretary of Commerce (ineligible due to not being a natural-born citizen of the U.S.)
Elaine Chao, Secretary of Labor (ineligible due to not being a natural-born citizen of the U.S.)
Michael Leavitt, Secretary of Health and Human Services
Alphonso Jackson, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
Norman Y. Mineta, Secretary of Transportation
Samuel W. Bodman, Secretary of Energy
Margaret Spellings, Secretary of Education
Jim Nicholson, Secretary of Veterans Affairs

Bush wants to insert Director of Homeland Security in there somewhere, but Chertoff is not a natural-born citizen, either.

They need to be taken out all at once.

122. Aha! I was right!
Please indulge me in a moment of self-aggrandizing snootiness while I quote myself from a month ago:

"The timing of the release and my slimeball-sense says that Karl Rove is behind this. He's the only other guy in Washington who has the clout to take on Cheney."

But unfortunately I automatically lost whatever point I may have made by bringing up the Nazis. Oh well. I still get to say "I told you so." So there, I just did.

126. ROSEMARY WOODS LIVES!
Seriously, I wonder who tried to scrub the e-mails. We know that Gonzales gave them a heads up and time to race to the shredders before the special prosecutor got on the case but did Cheney give the orders.

I sort of like the idea of Scooter and Dick hovering over a computer muttering "OK now how do you get rid of e-mails."

143. This says it all
"tipped off Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald to information that led to the recent "discovery" of 250 pages of missing email from the office of Vice President Dick Cheney."

They knew, and they were covering up! How could he have possibly given a tip on them if they were hardly know about, or so hidden, or not archived in the usual fashion or temporarily lost due to a computer glitch? As I heard before, they were lost to an archive glitch. How can Karl just amazingly produce them? If he is making them up to get Scooter off, Karl is toast. If he truly had access to them and knew just where to find them, how cooperative has the administration been? They should have stated up front, we lost a couple of hundred pages of e-mail due to computer malfunction or something like that. The last thing I wonder is this, how tight is the vice on Karls nuts to make him give up the e-mails? What is he getting in return?
