CNN (at least ) is taking Mousaoui's testimony at face value
Justwatching the gushing reporting from outside the court house.

Kelli Arena reports

"This..is the most stunning...testimony I have ever heard... in my life!! and in ONE HOUR Moussaoui managed to undo what his defense team has been working on for 4 1/2 years Kerri, no joke"

"Let's go through some of the highlights here:"

He KNEW about the plan to fly two planes into the World Trade Centers
He KNEW Atta was "big time"
He recognized at least 12 of the hijackers by face
He and Reid (the "shoe bomber") were supposed to fly a plane into the White House. The fifth plane.
He lied to interrogators so the plan could go through.

Everyone in the courtroom was on the edge of their seat, mouths open. Aghast at this incredible detail of someone so inside of the plan.

Seems that this is the reason his defense tried to keep him off the stand.

*Does this sound like a guy who we all know that if he doesn't get the death penalty is going to be put away in the darkest hole we can create (no tears there) does this sound like someone who had ONE HOUR to set his story in history and create his own legend (for whatever it is worth)???

According to former New York CITY prosecutor Paul somethingorother seems to think it is believeable.

SO I guess Bush caught him one.

4. he caught him, but they HAD the evidence of what was to happen
right there on his fucking comPUTER!

the real story should be this

''Denial of Moussaoui FISA Warrant: The Smoking Gun?''
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=1429777&mesg_id=1429777&listing_type=

the utter fecklessness of the administration, when they had the basic plan HANDED to them, is the real issue here, but do you think the M$M will be discussing it at all?

3. Martyr in the making
Mousaoui knows exactly what he's doing, he will become a martyr for the cause. You can bet new recruits will be flocking to the Al Queda banner.

This is exactly what he wanted.

8. If true, this means that the Bush administration had someone in custody
that possessec information that could have stopped the 9-11 attacks had they been paying attention and properly investigated this guy. I think this is bad for Bush, not good. They fucked up, big time.

16. Deals have been cut, for sure...
Who knows what they have on him. He's been held incommunicado for a long time. Since the Patriot Act was passed, how are we to know what they're actually DOING TO HIM when prying eyes are not around? After what we've seen and heard about the psychological torture techniques used in Guantanamo Bay and Abu Graib...

Results of the 1973 Church Committee Hearings, on CIA misdeeds, and the 1984 Iran/Contra Hearings....

25. MIHOP does not mean tinfoil...all it takes to move it to MIHOP is this:
Everything could have happened just as we are led to believe...Al Queda plotted and organized a cell to commit the act.
Planes DID hit targets like we understand, no charges were placed in buildings, etc.

All it takes to make the generally accepted story become MIHOP is two things:

1. That they knew it was going to happen
2. That they actively prevented agencies from stopping it.

30. It's still LIHOP with a strong tailwind of MIHOP
It still doesn't change the most probable theory I've heard: They let some wanna-be suicide bombers into the planes, let them play around with their box cutters for a while and then switched on the airplanes' remote controls for making sure everything works according to the script (you can't count on flight-school failures doing those stunts can you). Et vóila, MIHOP including scapegoats.

20. I think this guy is mentally ill.
I'm not a licensed practitioner or anything, but I do know a decent bit of psychology, particularly as relates to criminology.

One of the red flags in this situation is that he gave no information (at least none we've heard) that couldn't be made up on the spot. Anybody who had seen even minimal news coverage about 9/11 could have made up the same story. In criminal investigations, it's common practice to hold back certain details of a crime from the public, so that the investigators can differentiate between somebody who comes in and legitimately confesses and a crazy person who confesses because they're mentally off the rails. In this case, there would be dozens, maybe hundreds of things that he could have given to verify his story if he had really been in the position he claimed. I haven't seen the news coverage, but looking at the summaries, I don't see any information of this type.

Also, the information that he did give contradicts established modus operandi. Two guys were going to fly a plane into the White House? When all the other flights were supposed to have four guys on them? And he just happened to be paired up with another famous, mentally ill would-be terrorist?

Does that timeline make any sense at all?

I could go on but when I heard this red flags were popping all over.

Also this whole thing of "ooh ooh ooh I know that guy" is very juvenile.

26. Follow the FISA!!!
I'll bet it will turn out that it was Ashcroft's Justice Dept. that slowed the FISA approvals and even discouraged their application so that we did not see Mousaoui's computer which would have given us all the information we would have needed to stop the plot before 9/11. And they probably did this out of pique at a judge who had denied a few.

31. Why the White House?
Edited on Mon Mar-27-06 05:22 PM by dubyadubya3
Junior wasn't even there on 9/11/01 and it was known days in advance that he wouldn't physically be there. Also, who were the other 2 or 3, besides "shoe-bomber man," that were to be your accomplices? Which plane out of which airport did you intend to hijack and fly into the WH? When were you suppose to learn (from whom?) the exact day and time of your mission?

IS ANYONE asking him these logical questions?

35. I would suspect that that would be meant for the visual
The White House (OUR house, supposedly) being basically destroyed.

On a side note when Condi and the rest said that "No one ever thought and airplane could be used as a weapon" and all that BS well it is BS...the White House was reinforced after Pearl Harbor specifically to be able to endure an airplane (of that time) from hitting it.

36. Yes, but they could have figuratively killed 2 birds ...
The visual aftermath of destruction PLUS the attack on the "POTUS" would have had even greater impact on the American psyche than the WH building alone. Think 11-22-63. Unless of course, they didn't want to harm a "friend" to their cause(?). They obviously had no qualms about killing innocent people in NY and DC. Why would they choose a day when the "owner" of the estate wasn't even home? It just doesn't make sense.

33. Moussaoui still doesn't exonerate FBI, CIA and White House.
FBI Agents in Phoenix and Minneapolis were going nuts trying to get help from HQ.

The Phoenix memo described suspicions of a terrorist network taking flight instruction. That document's never been declassified, IIRC.

The Minny crew had arrested Moussaoui and wanted to get into his laptop. After requesting a FISA warrant, they were told to "fughgedaboudid." In fact, Moussaoui would never have been arrested if it wasn't for Minnesota Congressmen Oberstar and Sabo who got on the FBI in Washington.

Moussaoui's a terrorist turd. And so is Bush. The difference is Bush also is a traitor.
