Why are the immigration protests getting so much more coverage,...
,...than the anti-war protests?

Is there an underlying agenda, again, being pushed by the CM?

I am so damned cynical, I know.

19. There were hundreds of thousands in streets all across this country,...
,...and around the world. I realize the numbers have dropped over time, but the largest protests in human history took place in response to the Iraq war. I have a wonderful scrap book full of pictures of those protests.

The photos/video from the Los Angeles march the other day were absolutely amazing. There's not been anything on that scale in just one city re: Iraq. Or, if there has been the media haven't shown it.

and they are controlling the debate again. Why not talk about the crimes and corruption of the GOP? Why not talk about outsourcing American JOBS? Why not talk about all the psychopathic FASCIST actions of the low wage conservatives?

Because we "Should" be talking about this repug bill.

20. Yeah, but, like PassingFair asserts below, BushCO wants amnesty,...
,...to buff-up more profits for their corporate sponsors while simultaneously exploiting immigrants and lowering the quality of American's lives.

There is no necessity to REFORM the laws that exist. They should simply be enforced. But, now, the blowback from bowing to greedy, exploitative corporacrats has put everyone in a pinch (except the corporacrats, of course) and led to this fury.

It's the damned greed!!!

Just watch the reporters and TV camera crews turn off their cameras and run for the door when anybody mentions any of this.

These things will not be discussed on American television or in American newspapers.

We're preaching to the choir on the net.

3. Discrepancies among vested interests
Plus, as more average 'sleepers' awaken to the truly nefarious Bushco, it places greater pressure on the press in carrying out gov demands of downplaying anti-war protests - hence, any chance to demontrate illusory support of covering mass movements in all due emphasis will definitely be seized upon.

9. Here's my post on this yesterday, Just Me....
Why all the press and aerial pictures of THIS demonstration... Updated at 11:22 PM

while the MSM IGNORED the democracy marches and anti-war
protests?

I believe TOTALLY, that the administration WANTS the amnesty
program, and ANY program that jibes with their cheap labor
conservatism. They have a problem in their own party over
this.

They play up the protests, pretend to give in to the will
of the "people" and extend amnesty. They get their cheap
labor, they avoid having business owners "criminalized"
for hiring illegals, and they come off smelling like
a politically correct rose. I'm sure there will be some
sop to their base, ie. build "the wall" or some fascist
symbol to keep others out.

Make no mistake, the administration is aiding and abetting
in the creation of this "movement". They WANT the amnesty.

What concerns me is, do those against immigration enforcement (I'm not talking about the repuke reforms) comprehend how they are actually being, indirectly, pushed into involuntary economic servitude?

Federal Government

Right on schedule...Karl's still got his "groove"
Look at any "news" show and what do you see?

IT'S THE DOUBLE D PLAN IN ACTION

Divide & Distrust

All the nasty divisive stuff is bubbling up...can't you hear the burbling and oozing??

Immigration (racist undertones & all) is the headliner ..7 months before the election, the one thing that has to happen is for democrats to be put on the spot about this age-old issue.

Since we have been a country,(and before that) we have had northward immigration. If we built a 50 ft wall, they would build 55 ft ladders..

Immigration is an issue that republicans can win on...because as much as they pretend to "like Mexicans", everyone knows that "their" Mexicans are loyal toadies and are not rank and file "folks"..

BUT getting democrats to bite on this issue will hurt their standing in the hispanic communities and the republicans KNOW it..

Immigration is NOT a campaign issue, since NO ONE person's beliefs on the issue will make a bit of difference.. If it were an easy issue to "fix", it would have been done years ago.

It's an issue that just gets pushed onto the next congress and the next and the next.

............................................

Another pet issue that always gets people to divide up..abortion...Look at all the states (red ones) that are gleefully setting up SCOTUS cases and creating odd law to divide the voters ..

............................................

And just in case the media , still reeling from being hornswaggled over the war, continues on their path to finally start telling some truth, ...well... we have the "Poor-W-The-Media's-So-Mean" tour out there creating a new myth.. The Media is out to get him, and cannot be believed.. This one's right on schedule too, because if they are to steal another election ("the quad-fecta"), they must have people believing that the media is wrong..

The media is, after all, saying things like. "Democrats are leading".."Democrats might re-take congress".etc..

In order for the "steal" to work, the people must be prepared in advance to DISTRUST what the media says.

There are SEVEN months left...plenty of time for Karl to spin a new web..

So far the plan is working too. The media folks are trying harder than ever to "be fair", "be balanced", and are wasting lots of time trying to find "good stuff" to report, lest they continue to be attacked by the slime machine..

What they SHOULD be doing, is shining a light on the PLAN afoot, instead of thinking they can still have it both ways..

They tried that tack on the war, and it did not work out so well for them...

They should start out every report with ..." The adminsitration wants us to believe x-y-z-, and wants us to report ....

BUT we feel that the public needs to know about :

the environmental calamity approaching
the sorry state of health care in America
the vast numbers of people NOT even included in the unemployment reports
the sad state of college financing
the increasing of foreclosures
the increasing interest rates
the obesity crisis and its connection to "corporate-food"
the gasoline crisis
etc
etc

22. It is a wedge issue to distract voters during an election year
The GOP sure as hell can't run on their record! They don't have any solutions to the horrible problems THEY crested. The do not want anybody talking about the war, the economy, the environment and all the damage the rubber stamp GOP on the Hill has done while being derelict in their duty of oversight in the face of a president who flat out boasts they he has broken laws and will continue to do so.

They want to make sure illegal immigration is the story on everyone's lips. They want us sparring with each other rather than confronting the GOP with their own record!

It is just the latest dog and pony show distraction. If ANYBODY in D.C. were actually serious, employers would be getting arrested left, right and sideways.

It is just the latest distraction while they finish destroying the nation.

Guest help "welcome"
Bush touts immigrant-worker plan as Senate panel moves forward
By Anne C. Mulkern
Denver Post Staff Writer

Washington - With the U.S. Senate starting debate soon on immigration reform, President Bush pushed Thursday for a program to allow illegal immigrants to work legally in the country.

"Part of enforcing our borders is to have a guest-worker program that encourages people to register their presence so that we know who they are and says to them, 'If you're doing a job an American won't do, you're welcome here for a period of time to do that job,"' Bush said during a meeting with representatives of groups that support the idea, including Denver Roman Catholic Archbishop Charles Chaput.

That's where so many protestors get it wrong..PROTEST IS JUST THAT..PROTEST.. If you have to ask permission, it's not as newsworthy..

Would the students in the 60's have been able to take over a school building if they had applied for a permit??

We've been cornered since then.

Why are we allowing ourselves to be cornered in such a way? ---> 'cause we respect the rule of law, even when it sucks.

Do we ALWAYS have to seek a permit to gather and speak freely? Only when an organizing entity anticipates more than so many people.

Did MLK break laws to forge the movement towards equality of ALL people? YUP. He did.

They ignore war protests because they've seen it all before. So the news room editor says "not newsworthy" because there is nothing shocking enough to garner ratings in a war protest.

I'm of the opinion most newspeople aren't quite that agenda savvy. It's ratings savvy that they at last try to fiend.
