1. Baltimore?

In what lifetime? I mean, the Light Rail system is constantly going out. The subway is a joke. And the buses are pretty lame. Of course, it's better than DC, even though we do have a nice Metro system.

I was very impressed with the public transportation in the SF/San Jose area. I didn't even need the car that I rented, except to drive up to Pacifica and San Francisco. I'd have taken Caltrain except that I wanted to make a side trip.

2. Portland rocks

You can get from anywhere to anywhere inside Portland in less than an hour on Pub. Trans.

However, in the suburbs it's tough to walk to a lot of places. I'm 1/2 block from the main road, but I have to walk 3 blocks to get there. At the strip malls there are no sidewalks, as they have been built for cars.
