Do you consider the 2006 mid-terms a "tipping point" ?
I do.

I'm getting old.

If they steal another set of elections...

I'm outta here.

2. Yes and No
This year, for politics.

2008, because we will probably have suffered the first big shock of the post-Peak Oil era.

The Age is almost over.

3. Yes. I just fear the exit polls and "Actual" results will be reversed.
Again. I believe this election is the very last chance to save the country. If they win/steal it again we are doomed to one party rule forever.

11. I have kids
although I'm divorced. My biggest dilemma is whether I should stay and help them or whether its their fight. I also wonder that when this society collapses, whether the rst of world will follow, or will it be able to withstand. The world is too connected now to assume that being somewhere else will be any more peaceful. I'm a sad_one as well.

19. it really is a dilemma for me too
I am hoping to buy a cruising sailboat and a 'vacation place' in another country-- but we have to get our house sold and downsize in order to do it.

That way I figure my husband and I could get our kids out avoiding public transportation in an emergency (or draft). But still, we both have aging parents that are not in good enough health to leave. I'm hoping to stay but trying to keep as many options open as possible.

I sure will sleep better if the rethuglicans don't steal the elections this year.

6. I am waiting as you are. I will give this republic one more chance.
If i even get a whiff that the 06 elections are rigged or stolen, i will come out of my little safe shell of message boards and The Daily Show and protest balls to the wall.

They are the tipping point and will show us if we still have a republic.

7. I passed my tipping point
For me it was 2004. Democrats proved themselves to be fairly incompetent in running against the Republican spin machine. I don't know what'll happen this year. I'm at the point where I don't believe it really much matters. Both parties are in the pocket of lobbyists and big money. It is only a matter of degree. It might be interesting to see what would happen should the Democrats take back Congress, but I don't think the level of disgust is high enough for that to happen unless there is an economic or geopolitical meltdown between now and November.

8. If we get out there in every precinct and make sure that cheating
is impossible, we'll not fail. "Screw your courage to the sticking point and we'll not fail." If they cheat us again in November, we need to take to the streets, or even better we need to refuse to pay our taxes in mass. That's all we are good for to the Pugs is money for war and hate. If we do not win in 2006, I will be here until 2008. After that I am gone if the Democrat does not win.

On election day I will be vigilant in as many precints as possible, after I vote. If their are marches, if there is anarchy, I will be on the front lines. What happens after that is anyone's guess.

33. But How? We Tried That In 2004 and it Failed Utterly
Most of the monkey business is either in the software, or done from
the convenience of the computer terminal in Blackwell's office.
(Fill in "McPherson" for California, etc.)

If they want to get really brazen about it, they declare a "terra alert"
and throw all the poll watchers out. I don't think they really had to
do that to "win" in '04, they were just showing off their power.

The only thing that we can do is take them to court.
That is a really a long shot, but it's our only hope.

13. No - Elections are no longer valid here.
The elections will be stolen.

This country no longer elects people into any office.

This is a country bought and run by corporations. If you think getting in your car and pressing a button on a Diebold machine gives you a voice, you are wrong.

And you know what? It will never change.

America is a fascist regime. I'm only here because my family won't let me leave. This place is gone.

to make this any kind of watershed event or contrast themselves with the far right.

They let one golden opportunity after another pass over the past 10 weeks- and in doing so, looked weak and ineffectual. Worse, they've demoralized their base- and made cynics out of independents- while at the same time, legitimized and enabled Republican policies. That's going to dampen an already low mid-term turnout- which is going to affect state and local candidates, too.

Bottom line is that there's no good reason to vote FOR Democrats- as a party or as a set of ideals.

Their only claim to fame at this point is that there's not a "R" behind their name (although in vote after vote- there might as well have been). That may pick up a few seats, but if history is any indication, it's not going to change the decade long pattern on the national level (or turn around legislatures in states like mine).

23. Dems Are Weak Because Repigs Own the News, Churches, & Voting Machinez
and the phone lines, and every word that is said on them.

Our party appears weak because it IS weak. We've got no power at all.
Any of our Democratic congressmen can be ruined and run out of office
if they actually cause the administration any inconvenience. If the
NSA has picked up anything on them, they can use that. If not, they
can just make stuff up and give it to the Swiftboat Liars to feed to
the media echo chamber which will amplify it until it drowns out
anything we might have wanted to say.

If that is not enough they can make your airplane fall out of the sky.

Is it any wonder that even one like Barak Obama had his backbone
turn to Jello once he arrived in Washington?

Voting out Dems and hoping that we can replace them with new Dems
(instead of still more Repubs) is not going to change this.

Ohio '05 is their prototype for the way elections will be from now on unless we can stop them.
They flipped 30% of the vote!

Now California's S.O.S. has pulled a Blackwell and LET DIEBOLD REPUBICAN ELECTING MACHINEZ INTO CALIFORNIA!
If we can't get those machinez thrown out, it's all over.

The lawsuit by Voter Action may be our last hope. Please help them! http://www.voteraction.org

32. Ohio Demonstrates Their Power To Reverse Even a Landslide
Edited on Tue Mar-28-06 12:37 AM by AndyTiedye
They can make the results say whatever they want in Ohio.
The press just says, "Oh, I guess our polls were wrong.
We'll weight them more in favor of the Republicans next time."
Blackwell will be the next Governor.
Ohio is own3d by the Dominion.

When they can turn a 2-1 landslide for election reform
into a 2-1 landslide against, you've been own3d!

All they need is a Repiglican Secretary of State, a compliant
press, and

Republican Electing machinez
and they can do the same and your state and mine.
And they will unless we can stop them.

The world has gone too far to the right. If there is such a thing as a universal law of balance than the two thousand six mid terms are going to be the point were we snap back to the left. I fear it wont be an easy transition though. Those in power well seldom give up said power without a struggle.
