1. yes people who break the law for their own convenience
have a tendency to keep on breaking the law

we all know how nice and law-abiding the line-jumper and the "rules don't apply to me" dude is in our personal life, why do we assume that people from another nation have a different psychology?

people are people, and people who have no problem w. breaking the law, guess what, they got no problem in breaking the law

5. IMO it's closer to 95% than 30%
But it doesn't mean there isn't a correct number thrown out once in a while.

4. Load of bullshit! Any foreign national convicted of a felony
is deported. Any foreign national who is here illegally who is ACCUSED of a crime is deported. Pretty much any illegal alien they catch is deported unless they have a good lawyer and can prove deportation will result in death.

9. Not exactly, Warpy...
That decision (deportation or trial) is usually left to the prosecutor. Automatic deportation generally only holds true for crimes involving illegal immigration (like when they are caught).

Here in CA, the prison problem is so dire there is a move afoot to build separate prisons for them.

The Hispanic prison gangs (and they had the first - The Mexican Mafia) make the Aryan Nation look like a bunch of mean Girl Scouts with walrus moustaches..

11. that is absolutely not so.....here in Florida the authorities know
all the time about illegal prisoners. I was told the state doesn't want to pay for the plane tickets plus two escorts and their tickets. I personally know a man here illegally who has been in and out of jail several times for small crimes, they know he is an illegal, and they always let him go.

12. Thats because that is not their job to go after illegal immigrants.
Its the job of the immigration service.

Odd that there is not a soul in prison for hiring illegal aliens.

13. You misunderstood.
Lou Dobbs actually said that 30% of prison inmates are non US citizens, which doesn't make them illegal.

15. He still LIED (if he actually said it)
These are the numbers from 2002:

Non-citizen prison population

As of last June 30, state and federal correctional authorities held 88,776 non-citizens, a 1 percent increase from the 87,917 held a year earlier. Sixty-two percent were held in state prisons and 38 percent in federal institutions.

THAT'S OUT OF OVER 2 MILLION PEOPLE INCARCERATED.

If anyone wants to go to the latest Bureau of Justice Statistics' site and pull up the 2004 numbers, I doubt they're going to find much change in the proportions.

19. And non-citizens doesn't always mean illegal alien either
So you could shave a few more off of that number.

24. Here is what was actually said on Lou Dobbs.
This was reported by Christine Romans, and taken from the transcript on the CNN website. "At the same time, America's criminal justice system is bulging with these citizens of other countries. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, 30 percent of federal prisoners are not U.S. citizens. At a cost of $63 a day, taxpayers spend more than $3 million every day to house non-U.S. citizen dollars in our federal prisons. Most are thought to be illegal aliens".
