For some reason, I always thought Bush I would steal the 1992 election. If he's controlling things, why didn't he just do that? I'm just trying to look into this idea that he's the man behind the curtain a little more closely.

with the Carlyle Group and such. Plus, I don't think the technology was there to fix elections - or at least it took them another 8 years to perfect it.

4. It's frustrating

I had that feeling in 1992, but turned out to be meaningless and thought it wouldn't mean anything when I had it again in 2000. The comments about Florida kind of gave away something big was going to happen. I honestly thought the Democratic Party would be more on top of it in 2000.

5. Technology and timing

The Clinton win was the event that made them realize they couldn't risk allowing the people to choose their leaders. That is when they got their serious game plan in motion. It started with the concurrent Lewinsky "scandal," the acquisition of media outlet, the formation of think-tanks and K-Street. Not that there was no lobbying or think tanks before Clinton. Precisely! They infiltrated and took over the operations of many of the standard mechanisms of power. Those wouldn't be enough if the people didn't buy it, that's where the media buys came in.

Believe me, if Poppy had had his way, Kennebunkport would be the White House by now, and Jeb would be choosing the souvenir glassware for Jenna's inauguration.

6. Remember how Poppy seemed to slack off the campaign

the last few weeks of 1992? I think it was because his handlers told him that Ross Perot would take votes away from Clinton, not him, and I think Poppy felt reasonably sure he had it in the bag. Well, surprise, surprise, Poppy lost. An then it was a non-stop witchhunt on the Clintons starting about six months after Clinton's inaugeration. They were trying to hound him out of a 1996 win, but that didn't work either. Now with Diebold et al, there is no such worry. I will now make my one and only prediction for 2006: Repukes will "win" every race, no matter what we do, for this reason alone. :mad:

8. Which brings us to the super-tinfoil reason he "slacked off"

DISCLAIMER: I am not saying I believe this is 100% true, but it is a theory and considering the evil, Machiavellian nature of the Imperial Family, it cannot be dismissed.

The :tinfoilhat: hat theory goes like this: Bush threw the 1992 election because Walsh was about to crack Cap Weinberger and others. If Poppy Augustus wins 1992, he can't make his "parting pardons" that shut down Walsh and the Iran-Contra investigation. In that event, Poppy is impeached, or more probably he has his friend Bin Laden do 9-11 on 9-11-1993.

So that's the super-tinfoil theory. Unfortunately, no malevolence is too horrific to be dismissed when you are speaking of the Imperial Family.

7. No Diebold, not enough criminal fascists in the seats

9. Personally , I believe that GHWB had at least SOME respect

for the Democratic processes. His concession was "The People have spoken, and they have chosen Bill Clinton." GHWB knows why he lost. He lost due to a stumbling economy and three words "Read My Lips".
I am not saying that he was not below playing dirty, after all Lee Atwater ran his first campaign and was prefectly willing to engage in the "Politics of Destruction".

He was willing to dig dirt, muckrake, engage in personal attacks, spin, but somehow I think he would have drawn the line at stealing an election.

GWB clearly has one serious meanstreak. Wider than the Amazon. And he has surrounded himself with people that are willing to do the same. Just look at who is closest advisor is, Karl Rove! A guy who has absolutely no consience when it some to politics and getting what he wants. Remember, Rove was fired from one of GHWBs presidential campaigns for pulling some sleazy tactics against one of Bush's confidants. George JR. liked what he saw. Un-curious George has clearly shed off some of his Dad's inhibitions.
