Dear US soldiers, the ALMOST 90% who still think Iraq did 911...

Almost 90% think war is retaliation for Saddam’s role in 9/11
http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1075

So how do you feel now, after hearing bush's little speech last week, denying he EVER tied Iraq to the 911 attacks?

george w bush, March 20, 2006;

"First, just if I might correct a misperception, I don’t think we ever said – at least I know I didn’t say that there was a direct connection between September the 11th and Saddam Hussein."
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/03/20060320-7.html

What you soldiers most obviously don't know, is that BUSH, RICE, POWELL, RUMSFELD, WOLFOWITZ...ALL of them have admitted previously that Iraq had NOTHING to do with the 911 attacks;

"We have no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with the 11 September attacks," Mr Bush told reporters as he met members of Congress on energy legislation.

You've been conned, dear US soldiers. LIED to. By your CINC. How're you feeling now?

Betrayed?

You were.

Almost 90% think war is retaliation for Saddam’s role in 9/11
http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1075

And almost 2400 of your brothers and sisters in arms are DEAD...in "retaliation for Saddam's role in 911"...the role he never had.

BETRAYED.

So many of our military have paid the ultimate price for a damned pack of lies. Were I a member of the military, there would be no words to describe the anger I'd feel at this pResident and his cabal.

You thought you were "at war" in "retaliation for Saddam's role in 911".

And then you find out the TRUTH.

No, I don't detest that motherfucker bush because he's a republican. I detest that motherfucker bush because he betrayed our soldiers and caused their deaths. For his "political capital".

If YOU don't detest that motherfucker bush, YOU have a serious personality defect.

12. Title misrepresents the poll. 90% don't think Iraq did 9/11...
90% think the war was a retaliation for his role.

I see an important difference.

15. I don't draw too much
of a distinction between the two.

The point is: neither statement is true; Saddam played NO role in 9/11, and Iraq did NOT do 9/11.

Worryingly, 90% of US soldiers are either ignorant or misinformed. Why would that be then? Watching too much Fox News Channel I suspect.

29. I believe you and others here are misinterpreting the poll.
The 90% don't believe Saddam had a role, they believe the war was started by Bush as retaliation for the role he implied Saddam had.

38. So by your reasoning,
Edited on Wed Mar-29-06 09:49 AM by Tom Bombadil
and based on the premise that Saddam had no role in 9/11 - are you suggesting that 90% of the soldiers are fighting a war that they know is based on an implied falsehood?

42. Well done. Very well put, but I"m not saying all 90%....
You hit the nail on the head with your description of an "implied falsehood" that the soldiers are thinking caused the war, but not all 90%.

I'm saying that a portion of that 90% are fighting a war that they know is based on an implied falsehood.

I'm sure some of them (maybe less than 50% of that 90%) think that Saddam had something to do with 9/11.

I think the rest answered the poll in the afermative with the understanding that Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11.

28. It does not say the soldiers believe Saddam had a role
it says the soldiers believe the war was retaliation for his role. I would have answered the same, because I think it was retaliation for 9/11.

Don't accuse me of believing he had a role in 9/11 though, k?

then they must think Saddam HAD a role in 911.

They don't say "in retaliation for 911"...they say in retaliation for SADDAM'S ROLE in 911".

35. They didn't say anything.
It was a poll question.

I'm telling you how I honestly would have deciphered the question if I was asked, and that's exactly how I'm sure many of those soldiers interpreted it.

If a soldier believed that Bush went to war because of 9/11, yet also believed Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11, how would he answer the poll question?
With "yes", of course. He would say yes, I think it was for retaliation. The meat/0main part of the question boiled down is "was it retaliation?" rather than "was Saddam involved in 9/11?"

14. READ THIS
Strangers to the Truth
By Joel Bleifuss
March 27, 2006
http://www.inthesetimes.com/site/main/article/2563

The GOP (Grand Old Prevaricators), who brought you the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth in 2004, have been test-marketing another TV ad campaign.

The fabrication this time: the war in Iraq. The target: any Democratic candidate who speaks out against the U.S. mission during the mid-term elections. The venue for the test is Minnesota.

Two ads have run so far. Both have caused a furor.

The first ad featured footage of the World Trade Center burning and testimony from soldiers who have fought in Iraq. Lt. Col. Robert Stephenson of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, tells viewers: “You’d never know it from news reports but our enemy in Iraq is al Qaeda, the same terrorists who killed 3,000 Americans on 9/11.” And Capt. Mark Weber of the U.S. Army Reserve ominously asks: “Where do you want to fight terrorists? We want to fight them and destroy them in Iraq.”
