Lieberman getting scared - already running ads
I was listening to WTIC-AM 1080 in Hartford this morning during morning drive time and a I heard a commercial touting the 'progressive' merits of Joe Lieberman - how he stood up to Big Oil Republicans in leading the fight against drilling in Alaska, and is now fighting to protect Long Island Sound...

But, if he is spending money on a popular morning radio show in drive time, he either has money to burn or is getting nervous about Ned Lamont!

BTW - a Republican has entered the race. The Republican (whose name escapes me) wants to bring the troops home from Iraq & put them on the border of Mexico...

He has money to burn with over $4 million on hand. http://opensecrets.org/races/summary.asp?ID=CTS1&Cycle=2006

I think he is a little nervous and a little paranoid. He knows the left will come at him hard.

3. its like "compassionate conservatism" if you have to point it out, its not
true.

just like "progressive merits" of Joe lieberman. If you have to state it in your advertising, its because you're having to counter a perception. In this case, a CORRECT perception, but anyhow.

4. I didn't expect it to be pretty.
Lieberman has taken his position for granted for too long. Someone had to bloody his nose.

5. I think you are missing the key point
A Republican! A republican who will strengthen the Republican Parties strangelhold on American, no matter how he claims he will vote.

Lieberman is a sell-out, but I still want him in office rather than the best Republican in the world.

Democrat and I'm glad he's running in the primary.

Whoever wins the Demo primary will face the Repo in the fall and win. So don't worry

12. I should clarify
I certainly would rather have Lamont win the primary and take Liebermann out, while holding onto the seat.

I was referring primarily towards the anti-war republican.

14. I know, but I doubt the Repo stands a chance. In fact the odds are
Liebermann will win the primary and the general quite convincingly. Not only is he a household word, but he's got a big pile of money to spend.

It's good to have some competition for him in the primary though and who knows?

I'd say that the Repo is the longest shot of any in the race.

15. Weicker is thinking
of running as an indy probably in the Jeffords mold. He is strongly anti-war and more than likely more of a dependable progressive than Joe, pretty sure he would vote with the Democrats.

18. Weicker would only run if...
A credible anti-war candidate did not emerge to challenge Lieberman. Ned Lamont is that person, as evidenced by Weicker's former campaign manager working for Lamont now.

19. Weicker is still in play. He said he hasn' t ruled out a run if
Lamont loses the primary. I don't know why, but I don't think Lowell will have to do that. I really believe Lamont will win the primary and then the general election.

16. Lieberman is as close to a Republican as you can get
without getting the real thing. That picture of him and Bush embracing is sickening. How can anyone hug this evil man? Joe needs to go. Better him than a card-carrying Republican, but not much.

It's one thing to slit someone's throat. It's entirely another to crap down the open wound you created. Joe has taken advantage of Dems long enough. He doesn't act like a Dem, he doesn't look like a Dem, he doesn't vote like a Dem...

Had enough?
