Oops! You're a racist!
<snip>

He then hung up on me and proceeded to repeat his argument verbatim, even though I handed him a plate full of his ass with all the trimmings, only this time he added something to the effect of "well these immigrants are coming to America and taking jobs away from Americans." What?

News flash: immigrants aren't taking anything from Americans. Companies like WalMart are giving jobs to them illegally. If WalMart paid a company to hire immigrants to do the job over Americans then there's probably a good reason for it. I'm sick and tired of lazy gluttonous Americans bitching about immigrants "taking" our jobs. It's not like they can literally come to America, ambush us in the parking lot and take our jobs.

If you lose your job to an immigrant, it's probably because he or she was willing to work harder for less money. Don't want to pay them full wages? Then don't hire them. If they do equal work, then they deserve equal pay. It's just that simple, and I'm not going to sit back like every other racist piece of shit bitching about having to work harder because there's a little competition for my job, immigrant or otherwise. I know I can do my job better than anyone, and if an immigrant thinks he can do a better job than I can, I welcome him to try.

What kind of chicken shit pussy is afraid of competition? Can't get a job because you lost out to an immigrant? Well TOUGH SHIT. Nobody wants to pay you for your half-assed work if someone else can do it better. That's what America is all about. Our president may be a moron, but I'll be damned if I'm going to let any more jackasses sully the reputation of hard working Americans who are willing to work just as hard as anyone else with or without competition. If you can't cut it, then the people with money will pay it to someone else who can. Maybe if all you people bitching weren't such lazy, pathetic, blood sucking leeches, you'd get off of your dead ass and work HARDER to do a better job. Get some balls people. If you're too chicken shit and you can't cut it, then maybe it's you who doesn't deserve to live in America. Not the immigrants.

1. agreed except.....
Work harder for less money? I dont think so. while I agree that these people arent taking our jobs they are being given them, I wholeheartedly disagree that they work harder then anyone else. Dont play into this stereotype. The bottom line is that they will work for absolutely no benefits and LOTS LESS MONEY.

13. And employers don't have to pay a lot of payroll taxes
like unemployment and workers comp insurance payments. Plus, illegals often have to put up with unsafe working conditions because the ILLEGAL EMPLOYER knows they can't go running to a government agency to turn in bosses who cut corners on safety to further increase profits.

It's more than just cheap labor. It's also a big tax dodge for the employers.

2. Very nice.....attack the worker
Edited on Tue Mar-28-06 10:15 AM by Webster Green
Outsourced or insourced, if you lose your job due to cheaper alternatives, it's not necessarly because you weren't working hard enough.

I think the host needs to research that theory a little more, perhaps find some of the hardworking guys in the construction trades who are faced with accepting lower wages because of the influx of cheap labor.

Be sure to mention that it is their own damn fault for being lazy!

11. As a former landscaper....
I'm tired of feeling like shit and being call "lazy" cause I wont work for three bucks an hour.
When I was younger I worked with a landscaping crew for a few years and I can tell you; some of the guys I worked with were undocumented workers and they didnt work any harder then anyone else. I get sick and tired of being told I'm a lazy fucker because I happen to be white and wont work for slave wages.
Adjust your argument.....If you believe "they" work harder then anyone else (of course its because "they" are mexican or whatever) then perhaps your the racist. Dont fall for this argument. The one and only reason company's hire "them" is because "they" will work in a constant state of fear for almost no money. Period. anything after that is just a stereotype.

4. Immigrant workers WANT the same money and benefits
as American workers get - but due to their illegal status they are in no place to complain when they don't get it.

It is not a problem of illegal immigrants TAKING jobs from American workers.

It is American bosses giving jobs to illegal immigrants because they can exploit them.

This is a problem that could be addressed by organized labor, but labor has been castrated over the past 30 years, and most the abuses occur in right-to-work states. Where labor has given up the capability of shutting down unscrupulous employers, there, you find the problem.

Of course, those who bitch loudest about immigrant labor are those who are anti-union. If they had the protection of a union, they wouldn't be in crisis, but damned if they can see that.

8. Well said
It's a point that most people don't understand in this whole situation. They take lower paying jobs because it's all they can get because of their legal status. And then they don't have any recourse when they're abused on the job or not even paid. This IS a problem for the immigrants themselves, whether or not they see it. We need to ramp up LEGAL immigration so that they can earn a true living wage and have the protections of every other American worker.

6. The problem is that they can pay illegal immigrants less
because they technically aren't even supposed to be here. A worse problem is that the immigrants sometimes aren't even getting paid for their labor, and they have no recourse since they are here illegally in the first place. And yes, we should be cracking down on the people employing them first.

Illegal immigration isn't just a problem for Americans - it's a problem for the illegal immigrants too. It's a much more complex issue than people realize and there are no easy fixes. I think we have to crack down on illegal immigration and seriously ramp up legal immigration, so that these hard working people become ENTITLED the same wages we expect to earn. We should also be dropping the hammer on Wal Mart and other companies that hire illegal immigrants and pay them little to no wages. That's my $.02

7. Bullshit
The truth is that corporations are not interested in paying the American worker what he or she is worth and so are gaming the system. It's called the free market - the free market has determined that the American worker is worth more money than some corporations want to pay him, so they are going elsewhere.

9. Yeah..
.... and I hope your job gets shipped to some third world country where the guy will work for $3 a day.

Everyone who claims "let Mexicans compete" better be also saying "let the Chinese and Indians and Mariannans compete", or you're just another fucking hypocrite, which I'm finding are not only the province of Republicans.

10. LOL...
Love the cartoon...yeah all the bubba's are pissed that 'coloreds' are taking their jobs, but NONE of them are willing to nail employers that also 'break' the law, none of them are willing to back consistent labor reform that would mitigate against it and none are willing to pay higher prices that are reflective of a 'American' lifestyle...

So what's left...little puddles of fuming Bubbas demanding someONE do SomeTHING either about the scary 'coloreds' in the ME or the scary 'coloreds' in Mexico or the scary 'coloreds' in France or the scary 'coloreds' in the Democratic Party...etc etc

Great piece...like the fact you used the 'R' word instead of one of those 'weasel' words...like 'prejudiced' ;-)

14. Bullshit! We're not lazy!
My husband was an over-the-road driver for years. We were able to pay our bills, and carry health insurance.

The big companies lobbied congress to allow Mexicans to drive throughout the U.S. instead of 100 miles of the border. As the cost of fuel rose, we ate it. With the passing of that law, it meant dropping health insurance, and finally we had to sell the truck.

The wages of drivers has dropped, and many experienced drivers have left the profession. I'm familiar with Crete, the company that hired the driver that killed the kids in Florida. There was a time not long ago they would have never considered hiring someone with his driving record. Companies are forced to scrape the bottom of the barrel to compete with businesses using foreign labor.

16. Maybe it's me, but I've never blamed the immigrants
for "stealing" our jobs. I mean, can we blame them for wanting to improve their standard of living and life options? Well, we can, but I'm not one of those who thinks it's warranted.

No, I blame the employers and the yutzes in congress who allow this all to happen. I've worked with Mexicans, and they're damn hard workers. I hurt my back originally trying to outpace kids half my age who were snorting meth in the back of one of the trucks we were loading/unloading and then working me into the ground. The basic fact is that I'm getting too old to compete with them anyway...meth or no meth.

Blame them? Nuh-uh.

19. OOPS! You're CLUELESS.
At the grand old age of 53, I've watched industrial plants die one right after the other. The issue you put forward that is killing us all is COMPETITION itself.

US Labor cannot "compete" with young, healthy "guest laborers," just as the US electronics industry and steel industry could not "compete" with overseas suppliers, and NOW the US Auto Industry will now suffer the same fate.

The disease is "COMPETITION," MODERN CAPITALISM'S bastard child. One Winner, and a SHITLOAD of losers.

MAYBE it's time for the "Winner Take All" mentality to take a flying FUCK at a rolling donut.

Sorry for the "CLUELESS," but I've just never figured out why Nash Negotiation can't be the rule. Why can't we ALL win?
