I have to say that the firing of Andrew "Mr. President, The Nation Is Under Attack, But You Go Right On Reading The Pet Goat" Card is long overdue. However, I don't see that putting in his budget director is going to help, except in so far as it will get that idiot away from the budget before he does it any more damage. I mean really, what are the qualifications you need to be Bush's budget director? You know you can't pay for any of it anyway, so you don't even need to be able to add. I wonder if Bolten even knows what a trillion is.

But you know what, it does not matter how many people Bush fires. Until he fires himself and Cheney, he hasn't fixed the problem. Still, it's gonna be fun watching the Bush crowd eat their own.

although it's possible that he left for a better opportunity, as has been suggested in another thread. I don't care, because at this point 'mixing it up' can only disorient the chimperor and make him even more unstable. He can barely cope with his bubble as it is, once it starts changing he's really going to be living full-time in Freakoutlandia.

Card tendered his resignation over the weekend, and Chimpy didn't sober up until today to realize what Card had done.

Okay, I made up the last part, but one account I heard on the radio said that Card turned in his resignation a couple of days ago. For some reason, Bush didn't announce it until today, which is very unusual for a White House that is particularly sensitive to the news cycles. A resignation announced in the dead air of a Saturday gets a lot less attention and analysis than a resignation announced bright and early Tuesday morning.
