It's a distraction technique, and it's working. Bill Clinton actually knew how to handle this tactic, and it's why he was as successful as he was. They're just changing the subject because they don't have a plan in Iraq." Focus. Stay on target. The only "illegals" I want to talk bout are the Bush Administration, and the only "immigration" that concerns me is moving their asses into federal prison.

actually red is "severe" on the gummint's terror alert scale. Carson from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy is not--I repeat NOT--an official terror alert level. The flag element in the graphic above was a pride flag .gif I grabbed off the internet and then just superimposed the successive terror levels onto it. It so happened that the terror alert levels coincided exactly with the pride flag due to the sequence of colors in the band of visible light (roygbiv).
But sometimes coincidences seem a little more than fortuitous. The rainbow flag HAD an established public function already--now thanks to Bushler it has a very contrary and oppressive, terroristic meaning and function.

Also, we typically associate the color "yellow" with caution; and "red" with DANGER.....

you'd have seen that I said that the colors are in the order of the different bands of visible light. That's both in the rainbow/pride flag and in the terror alert levels.

My point is that the rainbow flag HAD a public signification already before it was appropriated for terror purposes. It was the symbol of Jesse Jackson's "rainbow coalition" of marginalized constituencies and it has been an enduring symbol of gay pride and civil rights activism.

Now explain to me how RAINBOWS are appropriate to TERROR? Red is danger-fine-but the exact sequence? The metaphor of unity within diversity is very clear and appropriate in the rainbow/pride flag. It's arbitrary at best to use the rainbow spectrum to indicate a mounting scale of terrorism and panic (aren't rainbows conventionally nice and positive-- and aren't panic and terror conventionally negative and not nice?). If you make me explain the Wizard of Oz connection to the gay pride movement via rainbows, I may have to drop a house on you.

So I wonder(ed) for the hell of it, whether Bushler and company got a kick out of appropriating a positive preexisting symbol for their negative plans to terrorize America into submission. The connection between between rainbows and terror is at the very least not an obvious one. And someone in the White House staff HAD TO KNOW (given how much time and hateful energies Rove and the other Bushlerites devote to thinking about homos) that they had borrowed something that had a previously fixed, well understood, public meaning. You think no one in the administration ever piped up and said "Hey, can we use that?--that's just like that stupid flag the homos are always waving." To which I imagine the answer was "ALL THE BETTER!" Frankly with all the attention this group pays to symbols and the rhetorical preemption/co-optation of their enemies, gay straight and otherwise, I cannot imagine that this theft and repurposing of a public symbol escaped their grasp.
