It Really Is Time To Take Out The Crystal Ball

I don't want to sound overly optimistic but it seems impossible that Bush's Presidency can survive until 2008. He will either resign, which seems unlikely, or he will be removed from office. With daily disclosure of greater and greater misdeeds its just a matter of time.

Cheney will go too of course. Some reason or another, health or legality will catch up to him but when Bush is gone so is Cheney. Rumsfeld, Condi, Gonzolass, that's all bathwater with the baby.

There will be a Democratic Congress in '06. It would be almost impossible for the Democrats not to capitalize on this mess. Inept as we are we will be back.

So where will that put us in the spring of '07? Some Republican will be president, but he will be powerless. Like Gerald Ford whoever it is will be a placeholder, no more and no less. We'll have the same free reign in the House that Newt had with his old Contract with America.

How will we use this upcoming opportunity? Will we use it to the betterment of the country or will we blow it? What's your crystal ball say?

5. i predict democrats will win the house but not the senate

if the shrub slide continues unabated, we'd win both houses; but banana republicans have not begun to spend.
once they start propagandizing, they'll bounce back, even if shrub doesn't.

regardless, democratic majorities will be too slim to accomplish anything of consequence. they will investigate for show and for campaign '08 fun, but they will leave shrub and cheney alone, because they prefer to have them wounded and lame rather than risk getting them any sympathy or appearing petty and vengeful, or worse, installing a new republican incumbent.

2008 is way too far ahead to predict.

6. We are not dealing with honest people...

I wouldn't be surprised if some kind of terrorist threat pops up before election day '06. It may be cynical, but I have an odd feeling about this election. These people face a real challenge and it may get ugly. I mean look at the border report where someone smuggled dirty bomb material across. Something just happens to pop up when people start protesting the illegal immigration bill. I don't trust these people very much. They have been playing dirty tricks in Congress the past few years and there is proof of it. That Slate story about the legislative history wherein Senators Graham and Kyl inserted a fictional colloquy into the record, well that is the tip of the iceberg. Here again is that story:
