7. I believe many people will not be consistent on this issue

Sure, everyone wants to improve the economic conditions so that illegal immigrants don't feel they have to leave their country to have a better life. However, is that not what is happening when jobs are outsourced to India? Good jobs that pay much more than the prevailing wage are being sent overseas, thereby improving the economic conditions in India, but there seems to be a general consensus that this is detrimental to the American middle class. Be careful what you wish for.

Is it your honest opinion that the workers in India hired by US tech companies have not been helped? If they have been helped by having a job that pays well by local standards, which I believe they have, then that in turn helps the subject country by putting more money into the economy.

Outsourcing can help the countries of central and south america, but i do not favor that approach. However, good luck finding any company that wants to invest in countries in south america. With Hugo Chavez voiding contracts with oil companies and seizing land and property that had not been used for production in recent years, and Evo Morales announcing that he will nationalize once-private industries, a signal was sent to foreign businesses that their investments in facilities and infrastructure could be taken from them without due process. This is definitely not going to attract foreign investment.

This is not to defend the actions of the companies who negotiated their contracts with a corrupt administration. However, in order for a company to invest money in a foreign country they must feel that their investment is secure. While I applaud the actions of Chavez and Morales in their efforts to help the poor in their respective countries, some of their actions have been a double-edged sword that scared away foreign investment.

Oh, btw, outsourcing in India is like a blood transfusion to a patient who is bleeding to death. It helps keeps them alive, but it doesn't close their wounds or help them get better. But the company supplying the blood makes a bundle.

most of those places start to do pretty well in their own right.

It's pretty amazing.

My uncle is a medium sized business owner in El Salvador and a rightwinger. He's pretty surprised to find out that when you pry the Pentagon out of your economy, other businesses flourish.

We should try that here. :)

15. You know there are companies that are considered "liberal"

that are helping Latin America. For example (and someone correct me if I am wrong) Starbucks get their coffee from many South American countries, etc.

But is your question asking for the US Government to help with better policies or you are referring to US coorporations? I am confused here.

I suggest that either the US government give or encourage the central american governments to give small business loans and such. Encourage the governments to invest in companies from their own countries. Encourage us to invest in central american countries.

Instead the money went into big multi-national corprations. That's what the revolt and "leftist" elections are all about. Trickle down didn't work any better in any other country than it does here.
