Jobs gives up 4.5 million Apple shares for taxes

According to a company filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Apple held back 4.5 million of the 10 million of Jobs' shares that vested in March. The 5.4 million shares he has left were worth $323 million, based on Friday's closing stock price.
Apple used the proceeds from the sale of the witheld shares -- $295.7 million -- to pay taxes for the CEO.
He was awarded the shares in March 2003. Although he earned a salary of just $1 at Apple last year, Jobs is worth about $4.4 billion, according to Forbes magazine.
