I assume the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is privately funded, but it seems a bit close to the edge.

Couldn't find that on their webpage. In fact, it appears political activism constitutes the major thrust...with a bit of conman type 'we'll help you' thrown into the mix. I'm trying to find out if a local C of C with non-profit status has any business publically endorsing one candidate over another. If anyone knows what the law says, I'd be grateful for a link.

I missed that. Now I guess I have to check out the difference between 501 (c) vs 501 (?).

Our local Chamber did a big endorsement last week and I think they are out of line. They're a non-profit funded by membership (and other sources) and I would be livid if I were a member. As it is, I'm annoyed.

We were looking for the same thing. I did learn a quite a lot about the C of C too!

I can't believe a non-profit can endorse anyone but I have a long history littered with ugly, if spectacular, examples of my foolishness. It seems so illogical, that it is why I set out on the search in the first place.
