Print Media, Remembering Card, Forget His Role On Sept. 11
Edited on Wed Mar-29-06 10:34 AM by JABBS
Let's face it. No matter how creative or direct a White House Chief of Staff is, it only matters if the man in charge reacts appropriately.

Andrew Card, you might remember, was the one who whispered to Bush on Sept. 11, 2001: "The nation is under attack." Bush, you might remember, sat in a Florida classroom for seven minutes, doing nothing.

Amazingly, in all the coverage of Card's resignation, almost every newspaper and on-line magazine failed to remember that piece of history. (Television coverage was more likely to show a clip from the movie Farenheit 9/11.)

Maybe the White House press corps has become too "tired" and "insular," too.

2. Since the Dictator-Tot didn't take Card's heads-up seriously
The MSM is naturally following suit.

9. But they didn't show the clip of Card grabbing Bush
and pulling him out of the classroom and kicking his ass up and down the hallway and telling him to do his job.

Oh, that's right. It never happened.

8. Bush actually farted around for a good 1/2 hour
in that classroom.

Check it out.

He was scared shitless, and had no freakin clue what to do.

On 9/11 Bush was AWOL. Again.

13. Here's an article from the Boston Globe:
http://www.boston.com/news/globe/editorial_opinion/editorials/articles/2006/03/29/bushs_uncertain_step/?p1=MEWell_Pos4

AMERICA'S LASTING impression of Andrew Card will doubtless be of the solicitous aide whispering horror into the ear of a white-faced President George Bush in a Florida schoolroom on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001. It is an appropriate image, because Card has been at Bush's side more than anyone these five years and more.

15. And the LA Times:
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-032806card_lat,0,2175617.story?coll=la-home-headlines

Card, 58, has served as chief of staff since the start of the Bush administration, second in years of service only to Dwight D. Eisenhower's chief of staff. It was Card who whispered in the president's ear on a visit to a Florida classroom and alerted him to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. And it was Card who took heat — in some measure — for the slow White House response to Hurricane Katrina.

17. that didn't come up in the google search
So maybe it's the vast majority of the print MSM that forgot to mention this?

If you're going to continue to nit-pick, you're missing the broader point.
