RW radio hack tells reporter in Iraq that he's on the front line too
From Jonathon at Blogoland-

snip>The third-tier talk show host strapped on his kevlar helmet and bravely reported from the front lines of the terror war while interviewing Michael Ware, a Time Baghdad correspondent:

MW: Let's look at it this way. I mean, you're sitting back in a comfortable radio studio, far from the realities of this war.

HH: Actually, Michael, let me interrupt you.

MW: If anyone has a right...

HH: Michael, one second.

MW: If anyone has a right to complain, that's what...

HH: I'm sitting in the Empire State Building. Michael, I'm sitting in the Empire State Building, which has been in the past, and could be again, a target. Because in downtown Manhattan, it's not comfortable, although it's a lot safer than where you are, people always are three miles away from where the jihadis last spoke in America. So that's...civilians have a stake in this. Although you are on the front line, this was the front line four and a half years ago.

I am in awe of Mr. Hewitt's bravery. And just a few days ago, we hear, Hugh actually got on a PATH train that went RIGHT THROUGH Ground Zero. Somehow, some way, he survived.

As funny as the above exchange is ("I'm on the front lines, too!") it opens a useful window onto the soul of the Keyboard Kommandos. See, when Hugh Hewitt is ensconced in a cushy office in the Empire State building, he actually imagines himself as a brave soldier on the front lines in the Universal Conflict Against the Evildoers. When he is on the airplane, he is an intelligence officer against fanatical Islamofascists. When he is on the shitter, he is a grunt in a conflagration against the fanatical jihadis who want to subjugate us all under their Islamic caliphate.

1. IS he referring to the Empire State building getting hit by a plane
back in the 30's????

BTW-three of my very close friends (me too) all thought of the footage of that plane hitting the Empire State Building from the Discovery channel when we first heard about what was happening on 9/11. Weird.

2. HH, Hugh Hewitt, Lord Haw Haw
get it?

get BIT, Hewitt

it's so difficult saying that ANY of these geebs is the worst of a bad bunch, cause another name always pops up as soon as you think of somebody like him, Boortz, Hannity, etc.

this particular exchange, however, is one of the most despicable things I've heard in a long time, cause Ware is one of the VERY VERY few members of the corporate media who has been unstinting in his reporting of what actually is happening in Iraq.

contrast that to the likes of Peter Jennings, who, in an interview with Orville Schell, when asked WHEN the big three networks would start discussing the merits of the impending war with Iraq, said "there WILL be no such discussion", or words very close to that. When Schell asked him why his response was merely to repeat what he said the first time, and refuse to discuss it.

THAT just about says it all WRT to our so called liberal media

hope there's room on the spit for Weinberger and Jennings together down there

3. Not to mention the danger to Hugh Hewitt from giant apes
We all know how popular the Empire State Building is with giant apes.

7. He is as bad as Bill O'Lielly claiming to be a war veteran when
all he was a reporter during the Falklands War sitting far away from the front lines packing a notepad and pencil as a weapon. These guys are shameless. These guys emulate their "war hero" - the one who rode out the Viet Nam War on a bar stool in Texas and Alabama.
