3. It's HER choice. Apparentl she came close to throwing him out

when his drinking got out of control, she can do it again! I wouldn't be in Laura's position for ANYTHING, but I think she weighed the plusses & minuses and decided all that money, and the spotlight of being First Lady is better than being on the "Bush hate list!"

She's had a life-long "safety net" under her since she married him..

They never had to worry where the money would come from to pay their bills

She gets to do pretty much whatever she wants..go where she wants..spend what she wants

She has a louse for a husband, but so do millions of other women... women who work at nursing homes emptying bedpans, work at k-mart,walmart,sears, etc.

She knows that her children will have cushy lives

She knows that she will always have the best health care

She will always have the best of everything..

All she has to do it ignore the goofball she married and his wacky family and take comfort in the knowledge that she will probably outlive them :)
