You'd have to be a Republican to believe that these imbeciles spent time "cutting brush" on their "ranches." The only time either of them ever did so, you can bet it was a photo op.

Let's get down to what these guys really did for exercise. I believe that Ronnie actually did enjoy riding horses and that can strengthen your legs.

As for King George, his main exercise seems to be strutting between the White House and a helicopter. The only thing that gets strengthened in this case is his dog, running like mad to keep from getting stepped on.

Has anyone here really "cut brush" for recreation?

His handlers must be passive aggressive, lol, to let him near it.

4. Saint Ronnie liked to rake leaves so much the SS had to put them
Edited on Wed Mar-29-06 05:27 PM by Vincardog
(the leaves) back out on the lawn. Of course st. ronnie was so far gone he did not notice. What do you think *'s excuse is? Nobody has as much "brush" as aWoL growing on his pig ranch.

6. Actually, from all reports, Bush is an exercise freak...
no one's ever accused the man of being lazy in a physical sense. Mentally lazy, absolutely, but certainly not physically. The dude exercises every freakin' day. Itwas only a couple years ago that he put off meeting that dude from Nigeria becuase he was on his treadmill, if you'll recall.

10. I think it's actually the real thing...
I know it's hard to believe anything even remotely good about someone you loathe, but everyone who has spent any time with the man -- whatever side of the political fence they may be on -- says the same thing. The man is an exercise-aholic. Like the other response to my post said, it's probably just a substitute for alcohol.

14. I had a friend in recovery from substance addiction who became
an exercise addict. Pulled a tendon in her leg and was in terrible pain, and still went through a strenuous exercise routine every morning because the psychological pain of not doing it was greater than the physical pain of doing it.

This kind of exercise addiction is no virtue, believe me -- any more than succumbing to any other form of addiction is a virtue.

7. Reagan did.
His ranch was within photo range, and his sunday mornings were full of riding and cutting brush. But I think he used a saw, not a chainsaw like Shrub. But then again, W really is a funhouse mirror version of Reagan.

11. He does it to show us all how manly he is.
You can bet if he weren't the POTUS and he and Laura really needed some brush cleared out, they'd be hiring the cheapest illegal immigrants they could find.

He doesn't clear brush unless a photo op is needed. The same clearing always? Photo ops complete with a "dirty tee shirt" wardrobe.

15. I believe that Reagan actually did some real work on his ranch
And he rode horses. Bush on the other hand has been moving the same pile of brush around for 6 years, and is afraid of horses.

18. No
"He don't know dirt," says Mattlage, who is friendly with Bush's ranch foreman, Robert Blossman. All that brush clearing, Mattlage says, "is for show. It's not necessary.… is where the birds live. That's birdseed. That's deer food. That's cow food.… makes cedar posts. If they're grown properly, they make a good post that will last forever." Bush's ignorance on the matter doesn't surprise him.

"You don't move into these boonies and really understand the land, you know?" says Mattlage. " got a lot of money, and they got access to a lot of machinery and a lot of bulldozers and a lot of destructive equipment, and before you know it, they can screw up something so damn bad.… A rich man with a bulldozer is a dangerous thing!" Furthermore, the notion that Bush is "friends" with anyone in Crawford is hogwash. "He's a visitor to this group of people," says Mattlage. "Nobody knows anything about him. I know you better than I know my neighbor."
