Gov. DEAN: "Are you ready to make history?"
Unprecedented Fifty-State Canvass
Governor Dean sent this message to Democrats across the country this morning.

Dear Fellow Democrat,

Are you ready to make history?

Thanks to the overwhelming support from thousands of Democrats, who donated to get the literature for the canvass printed and shipped, we're on schedule and gearing up for the unprecedented Neighbor-to-Neighbor Organizing Day on April 29th.

On that Saturday, thousands of volunteers will recruit hundreds of thousands more Americans committed to changing the status quo this year during door-knocking events in communities across America.

Democrats have a clear vision for America, and we're going to get the word out by making personal contact with our neighbors. And along the way we will build new relationships among volunteers on the ground, a network that will have an impact beyond a single day.

Whether you've never volunteered or you're a seasoned door-knocking veteran, it is crucial that you take part in this historic organizing push.

Please RSVP for an event near you:

4. Unfortunately, same day as massive UFPJ anti-war rally in NYC
which was announced several months ago. http://www.april29.org/

I like what Dean is doing: grass-roots organizing is key, I think, to real change. Possibly I will do set-up work before, but not work that day (the 29th)?

6. I think some groups are signing up and then changing the date.
When you sign up, just notify DNC that it is another day. I think groups in CA did that.

8. Howard catches on quick
He was fast (along with Joe Trippi) to realize the power of the internet. He
missed that it has to be complemented with footwork on the ground. He will never
make that mistake again, as this shows.

9. I recieved Dean's e-mail concerning this, and I was disappointed.
I live in Kansas City.(Missouri, not Kansas.) For those who aren't aware, most of the metro area IS in Missouri. Yet when I linked to his site, to find the nearest event,(within a fifty mile radius) there was nothing. No event scheduled for the Kansas City area. What is up with that? We are one of the top 50 major cities.

10. Gov Dean, are you ready to take on the voting machines?
I absolutely support Dean as DNC chair - and the 50 state initiative, but the party not dealing with these machines is confounding. Please, tell me if I've missed something that is, in fact going on.

13. Do you have a county party?
Edited on Fri Mar-31-06 10:54 AM by Bleachers7
Or a local elected official that you are connected to? So far I have invested nothing but a meeting place. I am plugged in with other Dems and we can share the burden if there is one. Encourage them to do it or ask for their space. You could do it if you wanted to.

BTW, you can also ask the state party to send you materials. Then you don't have to print anything.
