http://www.waynemadsenreport.com/March 30, 2006 -- US military support for ruthless dictatorship to resume. India is irritated that after a three-person US military delegation visited Kathmandu, Nepal, there are plans to resume shipment of US military weapons and supplies to the autocratic royalist regime, which has jailed political opponents and journalists. India supports an agreement hammered out between seven Nepali opposition political parties and Maoist guerrillas. The Bush administration supports the beleaguered King, Gyanendra, an old friend of Henry Kissinger who took over in a June 2001 mass regicide engineered by the United States and the previous Hindu nationalist government in India. US ambassador to Nepal James Moriarty has worked behind the scenes to ensure the resumption of US military aid to Gyanendra's regime, which is battling Maoist guerrillas deemed by the Bush administration to be "terrorists." The Indian government believes the Maoists must be included in the political process in Nepal.
But there is more behind the scenes with the resumption of US military supplies to Nepal. There are press reports that Italy, under neo-Fascist Silvio Berlusconi, has been supplying weapons to Gyanendra from an Italian arms source who is reported to be very close to George W. Bush.
