She signed our anti-war sign (Wisdom Not War - we carry that at all the anti-war protests we go to) and wrote this on the sign:

He says Helen is exactly as she appears - just very nice and down to earth.

He told Helen all about this event, coordinated by helderheid, and Helen was shocked the helderheid arranged this all the way from Utah.

Says Helen was flustered, turned her head away, and looked like a little girl.

Helen was very nice, very gracious, just a really nice demeanor. Helen sat down at the conference table with the volunteers, after the staff left, and talked about politics.

What an awesome experience, and what a grand lady Helen Thomas is!! She wants to thank everybody involved, and asked how to get in touch with everybody. We gave her the website address, so we may be hearing from Helen in the near future. She was overwhelmed, and loved it. Helderheid, I passed on your message to her.

They are bringing in Roll Call tomorrow to take pics. As suspected, Helen will be donating most of the flowers to the veterans hospitals. She asked if we would like to take some home, but we declined. We told her we would rather they go to the veterans in the hospital.

I'll download the pics in a few minutes, just got home. Just wanted to let everybody know.

I've been so anxious all night waiting till I finally saw the post that said "She got them!!!!". It is moments like this that make me so proud to be a member of DU.
