WASHINGTON — A full recovery in New Orleans could take 25 years as homeowners, businesses and tourists are coaxed back to the city devastated by Hurricane Katrina, the Bush administration's Gulf Coast recovery coordinator said Thursday.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Don Powell said that much of the city's rebirth will hinge on factors he said were "out of our control," including restoring housing, ensuring safety and encouraging robust investment by the private sector...

New Orleans is a sinking landmass. In 100 years it won't exist.

3. Just saw a news story
about abandon houses in WV

With all the homeless in this country, its shameful that there is one single house in this country, sitting there that belongs to no one, not being used!

6. there are empty schools & gov'ment housing across the GulfCoast
closed & abandoned military bases, there's plenty of 'supply' to meet the growing 'demand'..& the properties sitting empty, deteriorating. Reminds me,on the Vets' Gulf march, WE saw a HUGE,BEAUTIFUL VETERANS HOME,in biloxi..particularly tough on Our Young Veterans, just returned from war,& needing scarce reSources..and on the Grey-haired Veterans, who have YEARS of ignored & neglected needs. Luckily, these Vets connected,& got some HEALING done. Now,HOW to share THAT,with Other Vets, Other Survivors, the PEOPLE of the GULF?

10. What we have to do is to convince government
that it serves the people and not lobbyists, we can do what we need to do, if we are
not blindsided by greedy lobbyists who not only want theirs, but ours too.

4. I just returned from Vets' Gulf March, ended in NOLA..
sure would hate to see the carpet-baggers get away with this..
It's a Land-Grab scheme, they want the GulfCoast to be some disneyland type resort & 'managed' communities. Meanwhile,OUR NEIGHBORS are suffering. I've posted about it on other threads, written lots of letters about what WE saw..to msm,& DC.
Ck out: www.vetgulfmarch.org & www.bringthemHOMEnow.org
BAD,killing policies,from awful,ugly people,it IS WMD,used against AMERICANS,at HOME.
