I sincerely have to apologize for that bit of nonsense. I was upset and posted in haste, and certainly didn't mean to come across as a jerk the way I did.

The new neighbors seem to be pretty nice. They were trying to clean up leaves with a shovel while I was outside working so I lent them my rake and leaf blower, talked to them a bit. They're nice.

The guy who was a righteous prick to me and pissed me off must have been a friend or relative of them, because he hasn't been around since (which is good).

Was he racist or just a jerk? I don't know and don't really care any more. I just wanted to apologize because I offended a bunch of people unintentionally.

There are new neighbors moving in next door who are african american. I'm white. I offered to help this guy move some furniture, and he profanely refused my offer to help. I got upset and thought he was rude because I am white.

I started a poorly titled, poorly worded thread about it. I came across like a jerk to a bunch of people, it turned into a little flame-fest and got locked. I just wanted to say sorry to all the people who most likely think I'm a turd at this point.

Hopefully since I don't post a whole lot, not too many people think I'm a jerk, but I feel like I should apologize gor it anyhow.

Sounds to me like he's a bit, umm, "ignant", (vernacular)... I don't think that you're a bad person. If this guy was a troglodyte, he's a troglodyte, period. Just because the person who proves themself to be a block headed philistine happens to be a member of a minority, does not give them a ticket to treat anyone else in a nasty way. Only goes to show you that there is an abundance of idiots in all stripes and colours. Common decency is a basic tenent of a true human, for crying out loud.

the guy that was a jerk just appeared to be helping them, not actually live there. Seems like a single dad with a tiny kid and a teenaged son. Everyone has a relative or friend that can be a jerk about that kinda stuff.

It was very kind of you to put yourself out here this way and offer a public apology. We all stick our foots in it from time to time, through our own bad moods, personal experiences, personal perceptions of posts, etc., etc.

19. Some people are suspicious of people that want to help especially

if they are just moving in. They think people want to see what king of furniture you have or what else you have in your home etc. It's silly really.
