Congratulations, Tavis Smiley!
Just so everyone knows, the Covenant with Black America is doing EXTREMELY well!!

Today on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, Tavis said he just received word, that the Convenant With Black America will jump to NUMBER 2 (yes, Number 2!!!) on the April 9 edition of the New York Times Best-Sellers List.

The Covenant Book debuted on the New York Times list at Number 6, it's currently at Number 4, and on April 9 it makes its way to the Number 2 spot!

I know that I had a very hard time finding my copy of the book!!!!

Like Tavis has said, there is something stirring in Black America right now!!! There seems to be a real hunger and thirst to help make Black America better.

Because as Tavis often says, when we make Black America better, we make ALL of America better.

If there was any "UP" side to Hurricane Katrina, I think it has truly galvanized us like nothing I have seen in my lifetime. We understand that America's promise has not been fulfilled yet for many people. And we understand that many times, "our" issues are the last issues to get addressed by the politico establishment, if they get addressed at all.

So to Tavis Smiley, I say a simple "congratulations!" Thank you for your leadership and all you do to help make Black America better.

If you want to sign the Covenant resolution, go here:

2. I hate that it comes on so late here
Like 12:30 AM or 1:00 AM, or even later if PBS is running behind schedule.

So I have to catch it when I can. I wish they would do video podcasts of his show.

Tavis is just great! Just very plain, common-sense values at work.

8. I've always liked his show
More so than a lot of other hosts, he always seems like he's really paying attention to his guests, and the show is not about Tavis (again, unlike a lot of others...)

11. Tavis is great, although I hate to see him do lightweight interviews...
with television actors and so on..

I have been very impressed when I've seen him on CSPAN in the moderator role during the political and youth leadership summits he does.

Gratuitous bump.

12. Bill Maher was the first to promote this book on tv for Tavis.
Kudos to both Tavis & Bill Maher for interviewing him.

14. I signed and will pass on the info to everyone on my mailing list...
Also, I believe that C-Span was the first media outlet to promote the Covenant with Black America book and also the big conference that was held about a month or so ago.
