How much is a barrel of oil? Gas in my area jumped up to $2.69...

which, of course, is even more expensive. That or the existing ethanol is more expensive now? I can't figure it out, but I know when the news starts rattling on about $3 a gallon coming, and a bunch of prattle about ethanol and Brazilian imports and lack of corn, that they'll

a) raise it to over $3 a gallon and then

b) listen to the tantrums awhile and then "drop" it to 2.80 or so and listen to the gratitude as they continue to charge us almost double what gasoline cost before that rich little OIL ZILLIONAIRE bitch got himself installed in the White House, and fifty cents or so more a gallon than the ALREADY INSANE new prices.

That's all the sense I can make of it; if anyone wants to help me out with this ethanol business (is it new, or old but newly being waved at us?) feel free.

8. I heard sometime this week

that they were to be adding more ethanol to gasoline to try to keep the prices down. However; now the price of ethanol his risen. CNN ran a story yesterday stating that there was now an "ethanol shortage."

12. ethanol is added to "summer blend" it's not really that new

There are other things that go into making summer blend that effect the cost as well. Summer blend gas burns cleaner than the other blend and is required, thankfully in most of the country. If we did not require summer blend gas I don't know how we would breath in North Texas, even with summer blend you start to see the air around May here. It's also better for your car in the hotter temperatures.

This hits Americans where it really hurts them. With poll numbers already in the toilet, high gas prices this summer will be the death knell for Republicans. Especially if their oil crony buddies post obscene record profits again.

The price we pay for gas may be high, but the price for Republicans will be higher. This is their deal, they created it. It will be hard for them to spin this into a good thing when people are paying $3.00+ for a gallon of gas.

4. I saw a story on supertankers

It was mainly about the ships themselves but they also said that the ship would make its $100 million cost back in 4 trips between the Middle East and the U.S....so apparently its not just the oil thats expensive

13. I can remember when gas was 17 cents a gallon.

My first real job, I was fourteen, was pumping gas at my neighbor's Texaco station in Belton. Gas was 23 cents at the time, and, if someone filled up, they got a free case of coca cola.

14. South Jersey we went from $2.27 to $2.45 in just 2 hours on Wednesday...

I was driving past my usual gas station at 4:30pm on the way to class and it was $2.27. Two hours later at 6:30pm, I was driving home and the price was $2.45! :wow:

I can't imagine what happened in that time frame to make the gas they already had in their tanks underground suddenly jump in price like that. I was there on Tuesday when the truck came to fill them up, so I know it was the same gas in the ground. I feel nauseous every time I realize how the oil companies are raping this country for all we have. :puke:
