I Expect Nothing But Disappointment From Today's Censure Hearing
There will be a lot of Republicans savagely attacking Feingold and there will be a half hearted defense on the part of the Dems, and that's about it. I don't see it playing out in way that's beneficial unless Dems on the Judiciary step up their support for Feingold and don't simply play defense. Unfortunately, not one Dem Senator on the Committee has come out with support for Censure.

3. Well, yeah. The Dems get to do offense and the Rethugs defend
That's not the point of this. The point is to air the very real reasons that this censure resolution deserves to be taken seriously. The Dems on that committee have a real chance to say something about this Admin and it's unreasonable approach to governing and to demand that Bush be held accountable, even in this small way.

Of course the REthugs will defend. So what? Concentrate on the main point, this is info that is getting out there without the media filter on it.

6. Uh, no.
I'm suggesting the reverse. The pukes will mount a strong and united attack, and all the dems will do is give a half hearted defense. Hope I'm wrong, but I think that's the likely scenario, and it's not a good one.

4. You're correct, Cali...
Which illustrates why people need to realize that even if by some hypothetical stroke of good fortune the Bushco were to depart the WH, nothing is really going to change as the Empire's overall direction is largely supported by ALL sides. You watch...

5. The only good that will come out of it is the witnesses
If, and it's a big if, Specter is in a good mood and decides he will let us play and allow them to testify unimpeded. If the witnesses can actually say what they came to state for the record in many ways it will be successful, if not, it ill be disastrous.

In the end it will be a matter of how Specter decides to go. If he choose to be a good republiCon, it's trouble, if he actually decides to be an American, and let this play out, this could be very interesting. Of course old Arlen would be cutting his throat as far as his future in the R party would be concerned, or at least in this current incarnation, if he was to do so.

9. You can be sure that the time allowed to the witnesses will be minimal
and it will be strictly enforced.

Just keep in mind that this is more than just a little likely to be a set-up by the Dems to punish Feingold and hurt him in his bid to mount a campaign for '08.

Feingold is threatening the order of the Club, he must be surpressed.

7. I'm surprised the hearing isn't in Storage Room B
like the Conyers hearing about the war several months ago! Maybe that's a victory in itself.

I think as a previous poster has said, this will get some of the issues aired and that's the real purpose. If Spector pulls any fast ones he'll get the blasting he deserves.

10. You shouldn't be. That was an unofficial
hearing put on by the dems, not a Congressional hearing. This is a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.

11. On the other hand,
I find it heartening that, after a few years of lock-step support of bushco, that someone has actually stood up in the public arena and dared to say that bush should be censured. This move is all over TV, print news, and people in this country are actually discussing it...I have seen the issue brought up in my local media here, with letters to the editor and with op-eds. ANYTHING that focuses attention of the people on the grab for power by the executive branch to destroy the balance between the three branches of gov't is a GOOD THING. People must start thinking about these things.

Don't be dispirited, be proud.
