1. If you live in South Florida, it is a huge plus.

Yes, that's cool, it's best to learn multiple languages early on. Bueno!

3. That is great! When I was a kid, I lived in Panama...
my father was career Navy and was stationed there. My mom is a nurse and she worked, so we had a woman that came and took care of us. She spoke very little English.

My Mom told us that one day she came home from work, and my sister and I were talking to our "nanny" in Spanish! She couldn't believe it.

Unfortunately, we didn't speak it after we moved. I have been thinking about taking Spanish classes -- living in Los Angeles it would come in handy.

4. Spanish was my first language.

We lived in Chile right after I was born. But I had a hell of a time learning English at eight. I never was able to learn Spanish again despite all the classes I took. Don't let her forget her Spanish.

5. languages can give you new perspectives
As for languages in general, I self-learned Esperanto and it more or less paid my way for an interesting trip to East Europe (Prague and Budapest) on a budget of less than $200 for almost 3 weeks a few years ago. I arranged to stay in the homes of other Esperanto-speakers in Czech Republic and Hungary.

I couldn't have imagined this possibility any other way.
