King George the Tourist
He is absolutely the most uninterested brain-dead idiot alive. He cares nothing about the world's great sights or other cultures and would rather be at his stinking TX "ranch" or in his gym exercising. What an embarrassment.

Meanwhile he has ruined the spring vacations of everyone in the Cancun vacation area by being there at the busiest time of the year. I imagine the traffic jams for our King and Queen coming through are miles long and U.S. security has tied up any free tourist movement in all of eastern Mexico. And for what? Photo ops.

1. Interesting he goes to Cancun.
It seems so sanitized for George, a place that's entirely a resort town that's a travel destination for Americans. Could be anywhere. I can imagine that Fox's people decided to meet there because they were sick and tired of Bush being uncomfortable.

In his defense, they did make a side trip to Chichen Itza.

3. Chichen Itza
Only because he couldn't avoid it when Fox initiated the trip to help Mexican tourism. This was not something Bush could get out of or something he himself wanted to see and added to his Mexican visit.

He always looks and acts like he is rushing to be finished with any formal or diplomatic event and not enjoying it. It is well known he had no interest in visiting anything in the rest of the world until he was forced to travel as President. I remember the story that when Poppy was Ambs. to China and Georgie visited, he never left the Embassy compound and had never traveled to Europe though he had the money and opportunity to do so all his life. He is a total ZERO.

8. Hm, maybe it was required. I bet Bush didn't ask for an archeo. stop.
But Bush's lack of intellectual curiousity, paranoia, elitism combined to make sure that everyone can see that he would rather be somewhere else....to the extent anyone is allowed to see him, because they lockdown every area he passes through, literally clearing the streets and telling people to stay away from windows. He basically spreads his dislike and resentment from heads of state right down to the individuals, and each and every one of them picks up on the fact that he considers them either dangerous or a waste of his precious exercise and brush clearing time. They pick up on it because he doesn't bother to hide it.

On the other hand, Bush has great meetings with oil princes and corporate heads. No public, no cameras, no pretense to give a shit about culture, just men of wealth having a business meeting, swinging a deal in an air conditioned conference room.

Clinton walks around with minimal security detail and let's himself be MOBBED. People pick up on the fact that he is pleased to be with them, and would gladly speak to them.

Maybe there's something to the entire concept of "man of the people".
