6. Turner "its the target that matters"
"I'm told that there is new technology that makes it hard to do FISA."

So FIX FISA - like you couldn't go back and do that. Please. Its been YEARS since 9/11 and Bush has repeatedly INSISTED that he was getting warrants since then.

10. And that's the point- he LIED about getting warrants-if it wasn't
possible to use FISA to do the kind of fishing expedition he was doing, he should have stopped.

27. exactly - after 9/11 everyone was so spooked they would have
changed it to be whatever Bush wanted it to be.

This adminstration LIED when they said it didn't need to be fixed, and LIED when they said they were getting warrants. Period.

28. I would LOVE to find out what steps, and how much effort it
REALLY takes to get a FISA WARRANT! The objectors always make it sound like it's SUCH a burdensome task, it's impossible to use, and the supporters make very light of the requirements.

Is there ANYWHERE we can get the TRUTH?

The man is an idiot.
"There are people trying to kill us" and "it to cumbersome".

Well, there are people the US, righht now, who are trying to kill other americans (they are called criminals), but we cant spy on them without a court order!

This is BS. This whole National Security crap is a ruse for dictatorial power grab.

Who in their right mind think that a group of people halfway around the world can ever threaten the NATIONAL SECURITY of the United States?

The Soviet Union could do it, but only because on massive nuclear weapons.

Even 9-11 was not a threat to national security. All essential functions of government remained intact and there was NO INVASION.

Absolutely BS.

or do the existing FISA laws have a provision that if something requires "immediate action," that the NSA could START the wiretaps immediately and had a 30 day "grace period" to get all the approvals? If that's true, his argument is a steaming load.

81. Dean just made Graham look stupid
for misspeaking about what happened at Watergate. Graham blew into the room, bullied the witnesses, and got egg on his face.

Leahy: I am not concerned about the next election - I have 5 years until my next election. I am concerned about the Constititution.

I LOVE Leahy. At least he is there, and swinging.
