Official "Explain What Just Happened In the CENSURE Hearing" Thread

I was asleep. Just got up.

Explain what just happened during the censure hearings in a few paragraphs/nutshell, or post any of the highlights for those who missed it. It will take a while to watch the reruns and go through the liveoaktx videos.

2. Radical Republicans will ...

... defend Bush -- no matter what he does.

Democrats will cower no matter how much truth is on their side.

However, we must all give our thanks to Sen. Leahy, the ONLY other Democrat member of the Judiciary Committee to show up (besides Feingold) to speak the truth.

In other words, almost all of the Senate Democrats are still frightened to near death of George W. Bush.

That is what we learned from the Censure Resolution hearing today.

3. It was a show hearing for Republicans, only 2 Dems showed up

so it will not, most likely, ever make it to the Senate floor

4. Feingold showed that he was an oasis of sanity in Washington.

His arguments were the only ones that were based in reality with no spin and I think he came off as the most straight forward senator at the hearing. He was outnumbered, but that seemed to only boost his argument as it made it clear and no one was undermining his arguments from our side.

7. i thought it showed some serious, serious character flaws.

and those characters are deeply embedded in democratic part politics -- shaping and forming what our party does, how it is perceived, tactics it takes to form platforms, etc.

these aren't ''nobodies'' we're talking about here -- these folk are incredibly important.

and they weren't there.
