Palm Desert does not. Coincidence? Good on these kids for marching. It's gotta be infuriating to hear your culture and heritage reviled when tons of your friends and family are in the military serving this country.

My mom was subbing at Indio HS the day this happened. She said the students were very orderly and respectful. They marched to the Larson Justice Center, said their piece, and came back to school. Principal Rudy Ramirez told the kids there would be consequences, but he also did what he could to keep it organized and safe.

Mom was very excited, because it reminded her of the 60s and gave her hope!

It was very peaceful, from what I saw. I estimate about 10,000 people of all ages and races were marching down Broadway from Barrio-Logan to downtown. I didnt see any "gang" activity or sign being flashed.

Heard Jack Cafferty complaining today that only 60% of Latinos actually graduate from HS....then he suggested that they stay in school instead of taking to the streets... so they can learn something.

What these kids are learning is priceless. I am blown away by the civics lesson that they are actually experiencing.

I know it's not the same, but it reminds me of the '60s and '70s.
