as to the weight gain.. well if she was used to a fair amount of exercise, and was deprived of it, that could account for it.

The captors of hostages don't seem to be into starvation" of their captives, and apparently there is food around, so why would they need to starve her?? She probably had lots of breads and other starches...so a weight gain would not be out of the ordinary..

She USED the muslim women's clothing as a disguise in her work, so it would not surprise me that she would show up at the Islamic Center wearing it upon her release. Until she was safely deilvered into the US area, she probably was still not SURE she would be freed..
