More Kaloogian......(steamy stuff)
Josh Marshall says on his site: (You know you wanna check out the steamy photos, so go to TPM for the click thru's.)

http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/008083.php

I'm no prude. And maybe I should be happy that social conservatives are getting more in touch with their bad selves. But when we were doing some due diligence today on congressional candidate Howard Kaloogian's 'endorsements' list (he'd already fibbed on a few), I couldn't help but notice that one of his endorsers is Gabrielle Reilly, who Kaloogian's site identifies as an "International Political Activist & Swimsuit Model."

Kaloogian's site links to this interview Reilly did with Kaloogian at her website.

I was curious to find out more. And when I clicked on the about page on her site I found this picture of Reilly lying on the ground holding her boobs with her shorts half pulled off.

I'm not sure if this was taken during their interview or not.

Here's her picture with the Norman Vincent Peale caption on her 'videos' page.

Not that I'm complaining or anything.

1. Not much different
than the old www.BabesForBush.com, which I might note is no longer in business.

So now endorsements are coming from overseas?

9. I don't agree
It's expected of actresses, models, and even sports stars. They all pose in sexually suggestive ways. I get mad at the expectations but I think it's unfair to then not take the women seriously because of it.

13. Here's a tip
If you're a woman and if you want to succeed in business or poliitcs.

DO NOT put pictures of yourself in sexy poses on your very public website.

And before you say anything, have you EVER noticed a MAN do something like this?

It tends to reduce the seriousness of your dedication to presenting a professional image.

It's still a very conservative world out there.

14. I know that...but don't ever argue that
porn is not demeaning to women then. If women who ever pose in sexually provacative ways are dismissed for any professional jobs forever more then how can anyone argue that porn is empowering for the women involved. I'm dismayed by the double standards by progressives. (not you, personally but the posts I see on this and other sites.)

I don't know anything about her, but to assume that she cannot be both beautiful/sexy AND intelligent/politically active is pure sexist bullshit.

How much do you want to risk? This is a very uptight, puritanical, "no-sex-please-we're American" kind of world.

How much does general social acceptance mean to you?

To me personally, I think the Nordic countries have a positive outlook on sex and sexual roles. Namely, that it's no big deal and it doesn't interfere with your professional life.

Here in Canada, we don't give a shit what our politicians do in their spare time. It's really quite amusing to us that American politicians spend so much time and effort making sure their personal lives are absolutely sexually "correct".

3. Why should an endorsement by this woman be written
up at TPM? What is wrong with a woman posing for pictures and does this make demean her to such an extent that a progressive columnist will happily ogle her but laugh at the politician who publically acknowledges an endorsement? I find this hypocritical and sexist.

It's not a ridiculous point that the party that is the 100% anti-sex all the time party is hypocritical enough to have soft-X models like this person and hardcore XXX actresses like Mary Cary invited into their inner circles. (Though I know for fact that Mary Cary is just playing them.)

34. yes, that photo gives the impression that she is into something
besides the SUPERFICIALITY of the way her body looks.
what does a "sexy" body have to do with ideas and intellectuality? zip, nada, zilch. Apparently she is insecure with her ideas so tries to make up for it by showing off her tits with an inviting smile (implying she's "easy"), to give the impression that, really, she's just a silly empty-headed sex object, her opinions don't even matter and are in fact as cheap and shallow as she looks.

should I get up at the next faculty meeting in a scanty bikini to give a presentation? gee, that would really give my ideas and my research credibility.

are you implying that I am insecure about my body? I have never f**ked my way to a job or better benefits as she apparently has, so in that way, gee, I guess I am "insecure."
whatever.

would it make your ideas at the next faculty meeting null and void?

Who said anything about sleeping your way into a job? I find it extremly ironic when women chose to degrade other women over their personal expression of sexuality.

While I can see the hypocrisy of a Republican who has gotten a lot of help from the religious right accepting her endorsement, it's certainly much tamer than Mary Carey going to that Bush fund raiser a while back, or your average Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson video (two more Bush endorsers)

She certainly seems to be proud of her implants.

:o :o Out of 56 photos on that page, ONE of them involves her wearing skimpy clothing and posing in an erotic manner. She is obviously a woman of loose virtues and no brains who cannot be taken seriously. :sarcasm:

What is this garbage? "There's nothing wrong with pornography, and it's not degrading to women", but a woman who is comfortable with her own sexuality isn't to be taken seriously? Quite a double standard there, no? If a woman who displays her body cannot be taken seriously then obviously pornography is degrading to women, regardless of what men try to claim.

43. Honestly,
I do not care at all if someone is a swimsuit model, an actual porn star (male/female, whatever) or anything else. What I do care is about their minds, but to just subtle attack them for their appearances (or jobs they have) and make this the main point is awfully useless and sexist in it's purest way.

And starting anything with 'I'm no prude' just rings some bells. What usually follows is 'but I've seen this picture ...', etc.

Define 'progressive.' If we're stuck there, forget it.
