From John Hall's Congressional Campaign Web site:
I think this pretty much says it all.

America will be more secure when:
Our armed forces are not only the best trained and equipped in the world, but they are used in combat only against a genuine threat and for the specific jobs they are trained to do.
Peace and diplomacy are our tactics of choice, our reputation around the world is above reproach, and our nation's actions inspire admiration and the support of our allies.
All our elected and appointed officials are honest and competent, trusted here and abroad not to manipulate events for political or personal gain.
A world-class education is provided for all our children, enabling them as innovative adults to contribute to our national brain trust, create new jobs and industries, and compete in the world economy.
All citizens have access to quality, affordable, accessible health care, including prescription drugs at negotiated, competitive prices.
Social Security benefits are guaranteed for the indefinite future, for us, our parents, and our children.
We develop and produce alternative sources of energy that do not poison our environment, ship billions of dollars overseas, or involve us with despotic or unstable regimes.
Victims of natural disasters in this country are supported and restored as much as possible to normalcy, and our infrastructures here at home are rebuilt as needed.
Our environment is recognized as central to our security because of the connection between pollution and health, and we join the majority of nations in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
We invest in America through a fair and adequate tax code, rather than mortgaging our children's future with record budget and trade deficits.
Our laws and regulations are not written by and for the lobbyists and campaign contributors, but for the health, economic, and physical security of Americans and the United States of America.

1. He's running in my district and am hoping that he gets to run against
the Bushbot Congresswoman, Sue Kelly. (I've already donated to his campaign and requested to volunteer).

There are a few other candidates vying for the Democratic nomination, and there are several threads in the NYS forum about him and current emails. Here is one I received yesterday about Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant.

Dear Friends,

Last night I attended a standing-room-only hearing about the Indian Point Nuclear Plant. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission, representatives of Entergy, and NY state DEC staff all took turns explaining about the radioactive leaks from the pools storing spent fuel on site.

We got a lot of patronizing jargon about "legacy leaks" and "permissible doses," but the upshot is this: Strontium 90 and tritium, both carcinogenic radionuclides, are leaking into the groundwater and into the Hudson River.

Representative Sue Kelly, our 12-year incumbent, met with the same parties earlier and is quoted in the paper as being "hopeful... now that we're getting better answers."

That's one reason why I'm running for Congress, to replace Sue Kelly with someone who will stand up for the environment, public health, and the truth. The Indian Point nuclear reactor is located in the most densely populated area of any nuclear plant in the country; 8% of U.S citizens live within the fifty mile radius. Yet Sue Kelly waffles, content with more studies and hearings. We know the evacuation plan is a joke, and now we know the plant is leaking. The supposed regulators are allowing Entergy to hire their own consultants to tell them what to do. Meanwhile, it's business and profits as usual.

I know you've gotten recent fund appeals from my campaign; I know solicitations can be annoying. But the people running this country are more than annoying, they're dangerous to our health. My campaign is going strong, thanks to your generosity, and we need one last push to emerge as the clear challenger. Please make a contribution of any size before midnight on Friday the 31st.

I'm ready to fight for you, and I thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

John Hall

4. Hello next door district neighbor! I hope that you get a viable candidate
too! The demographics are changing up here, with lots of new construction and people moving in from the city. Also, the fact that I have been driving around with an Impeach Bush bumpersticker (and a Bush/Cheney Weapons of Mass Deception one) and not getting glares is a great sign. Although Kelly did win in 2004, and slimmly for that matter, there weren't anywhere the same amount of Bush lawnsigns in 2004 as there were in 2000, nor bumperstickers. I hope that the tide has indeed turned here and that John gets the exposure he needs! :hi:
