Taco Bell buys Liberty Bell!?

The print in the newspaper ad below is smallish but the text reads as follows:

Taco Bell Buys The Liberty Bell

"In an effort to help the national debt, Taco Bell is pleased to announce that we have agreed to purchase the Liberty Bell, one of our country's most historic treasures. It will now be called the "Taco Liberty Bell" and will still be accessible to the American public for viewing.

While some may find this controversial, we hope our move will prompt other corporations to take similar action to do their part to reduce the country's debt.

In a related release, the company explained that people and corporations had been adopting highways for years, and that Taco Bell was simply "going one step further by purchasing one of the country's greatest historic treasures."

I told my husband that Walmart bought the liberty bell and planned to arrange a "tour" to some of it's larger stores. He was livid. :evilgrin:

that or your news paper is a few years late with it. anyway they pulled this back when i worked for them in high school.

6. This corporatization thing is horrible

I mean, selling the liberty bell? That's even worse than Cingular's recent leasing of the top of the Washington Monument for a cell tower.
