I think new GOP ad attacking Fiengold helps us way more than it
hurts.

I'm getting ready to write Ms Mehlman a thank you note.

1. It looks like the 1984 Macintosh ad.
And you're right, it makes Bush look like a dictator and the Dems look sensible.

"You're either with us or against us" doesn't work anymore...at this point, it's making people opt for "against us" since "us" means the Republican agenda.

2. 9/11!!! 9/11!!! 9/11!!! 9/11!!!
Edited on Sat Apr-01-06 02:57 PM by longship
That's gonna be the GOP mantra for 2006. All 9/11, all the time.

It's the only thing they have. What we should remind *everybody* is that 9/11 happened on their watch. There were clear warnings and the Repugs totally ignored them.

thrown in to juice up the base.

26. Ok - Mexican homos burning flags marching on 9/11 - there you go
that's all they need for the stock footage campaign commercial.

4. These were great quotes!

"The President broke the law of the United States of America." -Russ Feingold

"The President of the US has been breaking the law." -Al Gore

They don't refute them, either. They simply justify it by claiming the 9/11 card.

9. To me the scary part is the fact that bush* is so open with breaking
the law, to him I guess there is no law except the law of the W

17. right on...
Quote after quote from Democrats simply stating that Bush broke the law, which even the Bushies don't deny (they just respond that the law is inadequate and outdated so they had to go around it), and all they can counter that with is "The President is keeping you safe from the very bad people!!!! Boogidy Boogidy!"

You have to think they spent a lot of time and money on this ad. If this was their best defense of Bush, this is going to be a fun election year in Congress. ;-)

6. The message conveyed is, "It's okay to break the law if we're at war."
I somehow doubt that tests very well with the American public.

11. And the answer is, "If you think the law is inadequate, then change it."
You don't get to select which laws you are in the mood to obey.

14. I agree: it publicizes the message
and putting right next to the typical republican deflection/nonsequitur can only impress someone who is soaking in kool aide. Everyone else is going to think that if this is the best the repugs can do, Bush is more than guilty.
