Howard Stern Lashes Out at Some Fans
Saturday, April 1, 2006

(04-01) 07:01 PST New York (AP) --

Howard Stern is angry more fans haven't followed him to satellite radio. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 52-year-old shock jock lashes out at those of his fan base who haven't made the transition to Sirius Satellite Radio.

In January, Stern moved his popular and bawdy morning show to the subscription satellite radio provider.

"I was just at my psychiatrist and I said, `I just got great news: We hit the 4 million mark. And I'm angry. It should be 20 million,'" Stern says in the magazine, on newsstands Monday.

"It's insulting to me that everyone hasn't come with me. I take it personally," he says.

How pathetic. Stern actually thought that his tired potty-mouth humor was actually worth PAYING to listen to? LMAO. And he actually saw himself as some kind of crusader for free speech? Dude, you gave up a great paying gig for a slot on a NICHE OUTLET.

Most people will NOT pay for radio. I'll be damned if I will, even if it's someone I LIKE.

But listening to Stern asking porn stars to show their t*ts? I'll pay for that when George Bush reads a book without pictures...

1. I had a feeling that whole deal would go down the pan
Quite frankly, I am one of those cheap bastards who WILL NOT PAY FOR RADIO. If I can't get it for free in my car or house, without special equipment, or over the net, ta-hell wid it!

3. XM is my only choice for AAR
No way will it ever come to any stations here in red state hell. So I pay for radio.

12. Can't you get it on the net?
http://www.radio-locator.com/

I find the above link an invaluable resource--amazing how many over the air stations broadcast on the net as well.

9. I enjoyed half his show.
I thought the celebrity interviews were brilliant. I liked some of the bits and games. I hated it when he would use racism and mental deficiency as punch lines.

And no, I'm not going to pay for it.

10. Stern isn't worth it in my book either...
all he does is degrade women and make crude jokes.

He was impressive in his early days, when he was a fighter for the right to do and say things that were uncommon and unaccepted.

In the end, he's just a schmuck with a piss-poor sense of humor.

13. Truly out of touch...
Edited on Sat Apr-01-06 09:27 PM by hlthe2b
'I've admittedly never listened to him regularly, so my knowledge is limited to his tv appearances when I still paid for cable--and the occasional audio clip. I'm no fan and I do agree he degrades women. Nonetheless, he had a following and I'm not one to push my own tastes on others.

But, for him not to realize that he had many fans who simply would not be able to purchase satellite radio-- just slays me. Another pompous, out-of-touch gazillionare.

14. It wasn't worth it when it was free.
A big part of his audience was warehousemen, tradesmen & so on who had access to a radio at work. They don't have XM on the job.

16. Stern or NO Stern.........
Sirius Satellite Radio ROCKS!!!!! Howard is an egomaniac, but the Stern entourage is damn funny if you don't take him and them TOO 'SIRIUS-LY'.
