Batshit-crazy moon-bats
Edited on Sat Apr-01-06 09:42 PM by bigtree
Some folks who get to the end of their argument with posters who disagree with them are dropping off* of the threads with parting insults. I think it completely wipes away your argument, and threatens any future queries being viewed as good faith discussions.

I think some arguments clearly stretch reality and believability, but we should be able to assert our own viewpoint without passing judgements on the character, intelligence, or motives of the posters. Calling posters crazy, moon bats, etc., makes me wonder how much confidence one has in their own point of view.

edit: added off

folks that really belong on other forums and just come here to cause trouble.

They don't know how to debate the issues and when they are on the losing end or just plain annoyed, they like to call folks names.

3. Well, since this was directed at me specifically,
please suggest the forum where I belong.

Thanks.

6. Gee, I didn't realize that you
have been calling folks names.

Since the OP was not poster specific, I had no idea it was referring to you. I know my comments were not aimed at you, but were referring to others that make the mistake you admit to making. Name calling is rather juvenille, don't you agreed.

Chips on shoulders are just as unbecoming as name calling, btw. :hi:

7. If this is a calling out thread...
...then the OP is WAY the fuck over the line.

16. Calling out is specifically against the rules.
I speak as an ex-mod who had to enforce them.

And they are a bad idea for many other reasons.

They only serve to sew ill-will and to start thread wars that moderators don't like having to police.

if you don't know what the OP is referring to, then it would be you that is over the line.

As I replied to Mr. Pitt, I had no idea the OP was directing the comments to him.

If Mr. Pitt was calling folks names, then he is the one that may have crossed the line.

I don't know what this is about, so I can't say for sure.

I can say that I don't think Mr. Pitt needs anyone to defend his honor. We all know who he is and what he has done for DU and the party.

I also recall another time, almost a year ago, where he failed to investigate before he posted and caused all sorts of trouble. I think that could be the case here, but I am not sure.

9. I really don't think the original
post was referring to you. In one of tonight's many McKinney threads, a somewhat hostile poster called those who disagreed with him batshit-crazy moon-bats.

10. damn,I wouldn't want to cause you to turn away from DU for a moment
much less leave.

I've read plenty from you about inclusiveness of all points of view. It gets frustrating sometimes, though.

4. Not necessarily.
There are many here, who have been here, who "belong" here who SHUT DOWN CONVERSATIONS ABOUT CERTAIN ISSUES.

BTW Merh, how are YOU? I hope your community is recovering!

Peace.

8. I edited my reply and believe it is a fairer statement.
Folks that call others names shouldn't be allowed to post here. IMHO, name calling equates to a personal attack and personal attacks are against the rules.

But what do I know.

We are trying to rebuild, but it will take many years. Not only was the devastation so extreme, but the insurance companies are denying claims and the funds set aside to assist are not quick in coming.

We are trying and thanks to thousands of volunteers, progress is being made, just not as quickly as we would like.

Thanks for asking.
