Pompous, self righteous asses breaking arms patting selves on backs

Radio-TV Correpsondents' Dinner from March 29, on CSPAN I

nauseating

they just honored Peter Jennings, who was instrumental in setting the stage for the current regime by spearheading ABC's nauseating witch hunt aganst WJC

read this exchange:

Peter Jennings - Good Riddance!
Here's an exchange between President Clinton and Peter Jennings From November of 2004 at the opening of the Clinton presidential library. A little something I found amusing.

JENNINGS (Discussing rankings by presidential historians]: They gave you a forty-first in terms of moral authority - after Nixon.

CLINTON: They're wrong about that. You know why they're wrong about it? They're wrong about it.

JENNINGS: Why, sir?

CLINTON: Because we had $100 million spent against us in all these inspections. ... In spite of it all, you don't have any example where I ever lied to the American people about my job, where I have let the American people down. And I had more support from the world when I quit than when I started. And I will go to my grave being at peace about it. And I don't really care about what they think.

JENNINGS: Oh, yes you do.

CLINTON: They have no idea ...

JENNINGS: Excuse me, Mr. President. I can feel it across the room. You care very deeply.

CLINTON: No, no. I care. I care. You don't want to go here, Peter. You don't want to go here. Not after what your people did. And the way you - your network - what you did with Kenneth Starr. The way your people repeated every little sleazy thing he did. No one has any idea of what that's like.

-----

Peter Jennings was one of the media whores who stomped on Clinton and helped Bush sell us this war. So - screw you Peter, glad you're gone!

5. The event has SUCKED for way too many years
Don Imus shot it, and ever since then, they've been digging the hole to bury it.

The best one in this administration was the Laura-does-Monkey-Milking-the-Horse episode. The worst was "Cain't find dem WMD's here....or HERE...or over HERE" slideshow. This latest iteration was simply more of the same lame shit. It isn't even a good night out anymore. The way they piled those fucking flowers up on the dais, you couldn't even find amusement by watching "dignitaries" chew with their mouths open.

The meal was said to be the absolute worst in a decade--some sort of overcooked red meat, tough as shoe leather.

Of course, some clown from FAUX is in charge next year, so there might, perhaps, be even lower depths to plumb. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

9. I have that Imus speech on tape somewhere. it was amazing, to be sure
the looks on the faces of the people at the dais were those of beefcattle hit on the head with hammers at a slaughterhouse

not saying I dug what he said, but the moment was signifcant, as you say

you won't EVER see anybody go after a president the way Imus did that night

3. On Bill Clinton's fib about sex with Monica Lewinsky, I felt he should
have lied more skillfully, as it is not anyone else's business what he does. It is the business of his marriage, and he and his wife should have sat down at the kitchen table over a big pot of coffee and decided where they stood.

The money spent by Kenneth Starr on that investiation would have been more beneficially used for new textbooks in Jackson, Mississippi, or new basketball uniforms for the girls' sports program in Reeder, North Dakota. Spending that much money to find out whether someone got a blowjob is a colossal waste of resources.

Peter Jennings was a smooth, James Bondian type fellow, but a corporate company man from the world 'go.' He disdained Bill Clinton, even as other members of ABC News division short-changed Carole Mosley Braun and Dennis Kucinich. Ted Koppel, in particular, was incredibly rude to Congressman Kucinich.

ABC News is not my favorite news source by a long shot.

In another snippet on ABC News once, Jennings was discussing Bill Clinton inbetween commercial breaks with then-living David Brinkley. Brinkley suddenly called Clinton "a goddamned bore." Jennings said, "You can't say that on the air, Mr. Brinkley." Brinkley: "Well, we're not ON the air, are we." Jennings: "I believe we are, yes." That's a very close paraphrase; I don't have the transcript with me.

But the point is, no matter someone's personal or political opinion of Bill Clinton, ABC News has never liked him much and on occasion, has been rude or nasty to Clinton particularly and to Democrats generally.

6. thank you...exactly....now, did you see what they did to a behind
the scenes guy, who sent an email critical of the chimp?

they SUSPENDED him

it's OK for their on-air big guns to try to bring down a president, though, or to vilify him relentlessly

totally agree on Koppel, as well. I'll never forget his sycophantic treatment of Bush during the 2000 'election' campaign

12. Hi to you, Gabi Hayes. Yes -- I did see the dismissal of the email guy
who disparaged Dubya.

In a more perfect world, that guy would have been promoted!

Anyway, I wish ABC were as fair as they could be if they wished to be. Since they are obviously not going to play fair, I'm taking my ball and goin' home to some other news source(s).

That's how BushieBig, and Bar (speaking with Regis Philbin) handled ANY questions about Jennifer Fitzgerald.

The press was cowed.

what kind of a jackass can get as far into a person's psyche and still vote for a sociopath like Bush?
