Ex-Apprentice GOP hopeful Raj admits DUI's, asks voter's forgiveness
Edited on Sun Apr-02-06 05:38 PM by Bluebear

FORT WASHINGTON, Pa. - Raj Bhakta, the aspiring apprentice turned aspiring politician, acknowledges that he has been arrested twice on drunken driving charges.

Bhakta, who was fired by Donald Trump during the second season of the NBC reality show "The Apprentice," is the Republican challenging Democratic U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz for a seat representing suburban Philadelphia.

Bhakta on Friday confirmed the authenticity of a June 1997 arrest report posted on "
The Smoking Gun" Web site. He also disclosed that he had a second such arrest in Colorado...

"Politicians today need to come clean," Bhakta said. "I ask for the forgiveness and understanding of the voters, while giving them my solemn pledge that this behavior will not happen again."

1. Whoops!

Still a hottie, though.

It'd be better to get people who didn't have any at all. If we want people in power we can trust.

He may be honest in not driving drunk again, but what does that have to do with doing the job people are voting him in to do?

2. What is interesting is they "come clean" after the dirt is dug up.
But meanwhile, what's with all these Republican politicians and their drunk driving predelictions?

you have a future in the ad world, it would seem

pass it on

seriously, that's a great national slogan

just run those words over a Cheney/Bush/Rumsfeld montage, with Bush as a toddler, 'walking' between the two adults, feet off the ground, hands held by each

5. He also had a "failure to appear" arrest warrant issued in one of ...
....those cases. Besides being a multiple drunk driver, he is a scofflaw. Should fit right in the GOP.

Includes disposition. It looks like it was more than a "missing plate". He had a suspended license......Liar, Liar, pants on fire.

MARCH 30--Once a reality television contestant is fired, voted off the island, or told they've been eliminated from the race, TSG usually has no further interest in their criminal history. Unless, of course, they decide to run for Congress. Like Raj Bhakta, the bow-tied former "Apprentice" wannabe who is the Republican party's candidate in Pennsylvania's 13th congressional district. Turns out Bhakta, 30, was once nabbed for drunk driving, which may be of interest to his prospective constituents in northeast Philadelphia and much of Montgomery County. Additionally, Bhakta was later the subject of an arrest warrant issued after he failed to appear for a court hearing on the misdemeanor rap. According to a police report, a copy of which you'll find below, Bhakta was arrested in June 1997 in Brookline, Massachusetts after being pulled over by a cop who noticed that his Toyota was missing a license plate. When the officer began speaking with Bhakta, he observed that the motorist's eyes were "glassy and blood shot." After claiming to have downed just two beers, Bhakta proceeded to fail a series of field sobriety tests and was arrested. Back at the stationhouse, Bhakta--reeking of alcohol--agreed to take a Brethalyzer test. He registered blood alcohol content levels of .19 and .18 on successive tests, both more than twice the state's .08 legal limit.

7. Good thing it was only DUIs and not a blow job from a willing partner
Then, he'd have to leave the race for sure.

:sarcasm:

11. My first thought - "Just like his idols Dick 'n Bush!" He was a total
tool for the GOP when he was on "The Apprentice", and the only one I recall to be outwardly political (taking cheap shots at Democrats and such), of all of the candidates they've had on the various seasons...
