1. Looks like most of middle TN is under tornado watches.

Looks like it's going to be a rough spring. :(

I think February is the only month we didn't have tornadoes in Ky.

When I had a tv, I used to watch the local weather guy practically pee his pants during storms like this.
A real rock he was.

I really needed it for when the lights go out and you have no way of knowing what's going on.

3. Eastern Illinois and Western Indiana has severe weather too. Tornado

touched down in Champaign, Illinois. Here in Indiana we had 60 to 70 mph wind gust with in the last hour. Looks like the worse is over for this part of the state.

I saw that on the radar earlier. Quite a nasty front.

They just said some houses were leveled by a twister one county west of me.

6. Champaign?

Must've been in the outskirts. When I lived there 40 years ago, they said there would never be a tornado touchdown in Champaign because it sits in a sort of depression, and the tornados just go over. I know THAT happened a couple of times. But from what I've heard, the city has expanded until it is nearly to Mohamet, so maybe that's where the tornado hit. Hope my stepsister and her family are safe.

8. I was watching channel 3 and you heard people in the TV station

scream it's here, then everything went snowy. A little while later they were back on the air reporting that a tornado touched down right in town.

15. They said the exact same thing about my hometown for years!

That there would never be a tonado because it sits in a depression, blah, blah, blah. Well, eleven years ago, one went right thru town from the southwest to the northeast corners. Tore up downtown and several houses! No one says that anymore.

Today, we lucked out and the storms were weak and most went north of us. (mid-Missouri) But we did have 35-50 mph wind gusts! I am afraid to check out my roof as shingles have been coming off this year!

5. It's 10:17 here and there is a big front heading in.

It looks really nasty. So far the heavy storms went north and south, sooner or later we will get some here. At this time the east end of Jefferson is having some heavy weather. I hope it weakens soon.

I did get some fantastic footage of the lightning, though.

the storms to the south.

38. My wife was down there when the twister went through the

downtown a few years ago. She said she was watching TV and the TV station was following the tornado on their computer when it got the Blue Screen of Death. Right at the most critical moment, they became blind.

14. Also southern Ohio

Just checked the tornado watch issued for Portsmouth, Ohio. I worry myself to distraction at times like this -- my Mom is 87 years old and couldn't hear the tornado siren if it was going off next door. :-(

Do they have a service that will call your mom if there's a warning in her county?

18. She can't hear the phone

She's one of those folks too impossibly stubborn and vain to get a hearing aid, which is why she drives her kids crazy with worry. You'd better believe when I lose my hearing (runs on both sides of the family) I won't hesitate to get hearing aids!

17. About got blown off I-24 a half hour ago...

Kept watching the clouds for funnels
illuminated by the lightning.

You can't see the funnel clouds.

Warren County now under a tornado warning - it's 16 miles west of Bowling Green.

I dread hearing the sirens.

29. We've got a tornado and severe storm watch for the metro Atlanta

area until 11:30 this morning. Hope it passes over. Heard that I-75 was washed out from Altoona all the way up to Dalton, GA.

3 April, 1974, the "Day of the Super-Outbreak".
148 tornados, including 6 F-5's.

33. Tornados went right over our heads in Cinti that day.

Hail the size of golf balls, some even bigger! TV channel filmed one of them live, right out the window of the station. There were snake funnels skipping over every hill of the city that day.

35. I watched them from atop Mt. Adams

I was attending the Cincinnati Art Academy at the time. That was one unforgettable sight. Started out as a gorgeous day, and even as we watched from the lawn of the Academy with blue skies directly over our heads, multiple funnel clouds formed and we watched transfixed as they skipped their way over Price Hill. The pink and green lightning around the funnels was creepy -- and there was a definite "off" odor in the air. It was only later that we found out about Xenia.

36. I was over off Colerain Ave...Northside, Mt. Airy area

They shut down our plant and as everyone was rushing out, that awful hail started. My supervisor was right in front of me and the instant she stepped outside, one hit her hard and knocked her out, cold. People just kept on going, tripping over her, to get out. I had to drag her out of the way or she would have been smushed. People were really freaking.

We watched one of those funnels snake right over the block we lived on. Stopped the car and got out to look up at it...after it had passed, I turned around and other cars were pulled over, everybody out looking up, all the porches were full of my neighbors, looking up. If it had whipped down, we'd all have been goners! One scary day!

32. Yup, a day many of us will never forget!

I had a cousin there whose home came down around him. He and his son only had time to throw a mattress and boxspring over on top of them...lost everything.

Tornado skipped right over my house when I was living in Knoxville.
It took out the top half of three trees in our yard twenty feet up like a
karate chop, then destroyed a trailer park when it touched ground
three miles away, killing a 6 month old baby in the process.

34. The earth changes are coming

Read a great book by now deceased Native American SunBear back in the early 90's. He talked about the death of an age coming, no where near as apocalyptic as the Christian armageddon, but very concerning none the less. He talked not only about the climatic changes (super storms, rising of oceans, droughts, floods,etc) that will hit hard but also the war, poverty, diseases and social unrest that will occur world wide. He doesn't predict the end of the world but states that people should be very prepared for life to change drastically as we know it.
