The Pentagon Opposition
If (When?) * decides to attack Iran could there be a backlash in the military? Could some commanders order their units not to participate, and how would their subordinate troops or pilots react? Could there be scattered mutinys? The most extreme scenario is that we would see M1 tanks and M113's rolling down the streets of DC to arrest the Administration backed by a group of commanders who are willing to risk their lives and careers to possibly avoid WWIII. I can remember when this kind of military challenge to a rogue gov't in a different situation happened in 1991 in Russia.
Im trying to not be a :tinfoilhat: here, just throwing out any remotely possible ideas. Harper's had a disscussion on an American military coup in their March issue actually.

1. I've been hoping they would do it for some time now...
With or without an attack on Iran.

I would love to see Al Gore and John Kerry leading the charge, backed up by patriotic generals who have had enough.

Welcome to DU!:hi:

2. Whatever happened to that dismissed general?
You know--the one who supposedly was canned for "marital problems"...there was a lot of speculation here that this was a smokescreen for something else...there was even talk he was leading some kind of opposition to the regime...was anything ever learned about that?

3. Well...
The:tinfoilhat: speculation was that he made impossible to carry out another staged terror attack, possibly a plan to blow up Charleston SC with a nuke onboard a ship. I could see from the :tinfoilhat: point of view how some people could consider that city expendable, with no large industry except port stuff that could be moved someplace else and surrounded by miles of swampland to contain any fallout.
