An LTTE from the Milwaukee Urinal-Sentinel...
Cutting fuel usage only hikes taxes

Before all you tree huggers banish me for driving a large sport utility vehicle, think about this: If we cut fuel usage by 20%, where is the government going to go to make up for the lost tax revenue? Higher gas taxes, of course!

My family travels, boats and generally enjoys life and spends money! We can't do what we do with a little people-mover car, and if we and the rest of the SUV owners don't spend money, some of you tree huggers might not have a job.

I don't live in the city and do not enjoy city life. If you live in the city, take a bus and walk, that's fine, but I don't - and I don't want to!

Another one of the "Screw you, I got mine", repukes.

1. I have to show this to my husband...
We're going to purchase a new vehicle, because we need a bigger car--for 2 kids and all of their friends. I have a 2-row SUV that only fits 2 kids in the back.

We're thinking Minivan, but we've also investigated large SUVs...because we do need to fit 4 kids in the back seats. I don't want to buy one. I said to my husband, "If we buy one of those things we'll be a huge part of the problem in this country, won't we?"

My husband answered, "Of course we'll be part of the problem, but we're rich Americans and we can do whatever the hell we want. Who gives a damn."

I almost did a "citizen's divorce" on the spot, but when hubby saw my expression he said, "I'm kidding of course, but most of the people who drive those big things don't care and they believe they're entitled to drive whatever they want regardless of the consequences."

How ironical...that a this specimen shows up now in a LTTE. What a marooon. This selfish prick writes a LTTE---advertising that he is a wasteful, greedy, self-absorbed, conscious lacking clown. I'm sure if we all sent him a neon sign that said, "I'll pollute the environment because I feel like it" he'd probably wear it around his neck.

Nimrod.

4. I have a van
and I get pretty good mileage - 22 around town, 28-ish on highway. I know it's not great but we needed some room in a vehicle for various reasons, and I was adamant that I wouldn't drive a real gas guzzling SUV. They're all so damn BIG now and it seems silly to have such a giant vehicle on the outside with many of them not having much more room than a sedan on the inside!
The "can't-live-without" amenities are also just ridiculous. The two DVDs package so the kiddies can each watch their own show is just too much...God forbid anyone is unhappy or bored!
Hubby has a diesel VW Jetta which we use as much as possible and that baby gets upper 40's/mpg on the highway. It eases the van guilt I have.
I wish this man could spend some time in the UK or Europe where gas is exhorbitant and many, many cars on the roads are small economy models, usually filled with lots of people. We rented a small car and drove through Ireland, and it was unusual to see big
road-hogging vehicles, and not unusual to see five people pop into or out of a Ford Escort-type car.
He'd last an hour and be crying for his momma.

2. I love the resorts to insults right off the bat.
All us tree huggers... well, I'd rather hug a tree than touch a repuke. :puke:
