Just wanted to say that Stephen Colbert is doing an AMAZING job.
He's been working his ass off. I can't remember the last time he took a week off, since his show began, or if he even has (other than maybe Christmas).

His show just keeps getting better and better. Bringing in David Cross to lampoon the far left every once in awhile was, in my opinion, a masterful stroke, as well. It brings him much credibility, and adds depth to the show.

Cheers to Mr. Colbert. I didn't think he'd be able to keep this up, but he has, and has even excelled.

14. I bookmarked this Late Night page
for a quick review of who will be on Stewart and Colbert for the week
The great thing about it, is it links to any books the guest of the night has written.

5. He might have. It's just that I've noticed that
it seems as if he continues to put out new shows, while The Daily Show often is rerunning.

This sounds exactly like something Colbert would say about himself. Good job!

9. dear "democrat in tallahassee", if that's REALLY who you are,
Edited on Mon Apr-03-06 11:23 AM by unblock
now i've known a lot of people from tallahassee. good people, honest, hard-working, down-to-earth AMERICAN people.
they would never go around calling themselves "democrats" or "liberals" or "terrorists" like you. they call themselves "AMERICAN" and they're damn proud of it.

i'm dismayed that you would mistake my good friend bullgooseloony for me, stephen colbert. i am readily distinguished by my right ear and by my astoundingly popular television presence. not to mention my unwavering support for president bush.

nor would i ever refer to myself in the third person. that's something that only liberals and french people do. the first person is first for a REASON.

bullgooseloony was only giving a fair and balanced reporting of my hard-working ethic, in the grand tradition of the hard-working american. something you liberal pansies have forgotten with your blame-america-first, something-for-nothing welfare handout attitude. well that's not for me. i make my money the old fashioned way. the way that old guy from the paper chase made it. i EARN it.

and so does my good friend bullgooseloony. bull, your check is in the mail!

Edited on Mon Apr-03-06 11:14 AM by seabeyond
question bush. the liberal in your face bashing. yet...... the stings to bush like in his word program. where out loud he will say, bush hero then in word NOT. or all the clever ways he bashes bush in his extreme praise of bush. how he slobbers all over the repugs, reinforcing their absurdity, yet with dem guests attacks unmercifully, yet in outrageous reg talk never question bush, liberal always wrong.... yada yada yada

the eagle, the flag.

how do you describe the man

and yes we love his show. hubby said at beginning not very good. i told him, jsut getting his legs. now, we say better even than stewart though we love him too

just your perspective on colbert

on edit: brother in law describing him as "like an oreilly" and i said ya, but knowingly doesnt take self seriously

10. I think Colbert has a special distaste for the path the media
has taken over the past decade or so. He's extremely smart, and was able to get the disgusting formula down to a science. Now, he's exposing it for how ridiculous it is through satire. And he's still refining the show.

Highly intelligent man, and dedicated. On the show, he's most DEFINITELY like O'Reilly. He's trying his damnedest. He'd take what your brother-in-law said as a compliment, for sure.

The greatest thing is that a lot of the conservatives don't get it. I was looking at a freeper thread on the show a few months back, and they weren't sure what to make of it. This was like a...strange...O'Reilly *cocks head*. Hmmmm.....

:P

13. I love Colbert.
The guy is comedy genius. My favorite segments are The Word, and his interviews with reps and general office holders,( “Better Know A District”) who are basically clueless about the Colbert style. They try to hold their composure, while he acts outrageous.

It’s true, freeptards don’t get it. His style is too complex for their miniscule amount of grey matter.

You can see lots of clips on

28. Hi Seabeyond
I love that he's making fun of O'Reilly and the like by playing the part of a rabid, self-absorbed and pompous beyond words right-winger ass. Did you see the Fox reporter on when the reporter said he loved Colbert because he showed both sides? Oh my God, that was hilarious.
He actually believed Colbert was serious when Colbert was slobbering all over him.

29. i know. this is what i say. it is so obviously digs at repugs
Edited on Mon Apr-03-06 01:17 PM by seabeyond
as he sits there and praises the guys to their face. but i am such an honest person, i never play games, so sometimes i get confused. hubby says he takes what the media says about dems and plays that showing how ridiculous media is with dems and then doing what media does with repug.

so,....in my stupidness because i like to understand, and i do have wonderful sense of humor,.... he isnt necessarily on a side, or if anything he is liberal but is just taking the media and amplifying what they give the american people, right???

cause even digging dems doesnt bother me cause is outrageous. where as when stewart does it, it feels more like he has bought into the repug/media perception of dems. so his digs of dems arent funny to me

but yes, i did see that pice about the fox dude saying both sides, we were wow....

we really laugh when he interviews and just cant believe people havent been told what he does. that they really dont know what is up. just the funniest.

11. I could not agree more.
I will not miss this show. The Colbert Report and The Daily Show were two reasons I finally sprung for a TIVO. Even though they repeat often I had to be sure I did not miss them. I thought he started out strong and has just gotten better and better. I can count on two fingers the shows I thought were weak(and even then they were good), the rest just blow me away.

I was so sad when he left The Daily Show but now I am thrilled. Not usually a "star" person I can say I would be delighted if the opportunity arose to me either he or Jon. I would probably slobber all over myself and I don't even think my husband would mind. They delight me each Monday - Thursday night.

18. Seriously. I just didn't think he could do this.
Because, ultimately, it's a "schtick." I had thought that it would have to get tired, eventually. But, the thing is that, in thinking that, I grossly underestimated the material that the media gave him to work with. What he is doing will never get tired, as long as the media stays like this.

This is a very deep well that he is drawing from. He has just been, and probably will continue to be, unbelievably successful. I did and could not imagine.

I'd like to see what the show's ratings have been doing. I'd bet that it will be around a long, long time.

27. So many classics...
I remember in one of his first shows, he got out a baby diaper colored like the American flag and dumped a bunch of shit in it, ala demonstrating absorption.

I couldn't stop laughing. So...dead...on.

He's just got them by the balls.

19. I adore Stephen Colbert (or, at least his show)
His show is smart and funny ... I especially enjoy the twinkle in his eye and the slight smirk on his lips as he prepares to say something patently ridiculous (a la Bill O'Reilly).

22. Mining depth from a shallow character
I always enjoyed Colbert's "cable pundit blowhard" character. Ripe for lampooning. But I figured it had limited legs before it seemed like a one trick pony. I'm glad to see he's proving me wrong. He's keeping it fresh and maintaining the character without getting old.

My only concern for Colbert the man is that people are going to start to think he really is that guy.

It's gotta be tough taking on that personality for 30 minutes, four nights a week, and thinking like that for hours upon hours more per week.

25. I love Steve Colbert
I think I love his show more even that the Daily Show which for me is a shocker. Has anyone noticed how he leaves off the "T" sound on both his last name and Report, pronouncing it "repore", so it's like the French? Or maybe I'm the last one to notice.
