Journalism is in a sad state.

When I wrote that Jack Straw had referred to Condoleezza Rice as "Condom" instead of "Condi", and described how I had checked with two colleagues and then went back over my tape to confirm it, there were still some doubters.

It's an April Fool's joke, they said. Prove it, they insisted.

So here is the proof. You will hear the "condom" remark roughly half-way (25 seconds) into this clip from Jack Straw's speech at Ewood Park last Friday. Enjoy.
