This poll surprises me... pleasantly.
Usually polls at this site slant Rep. I expected it to lean heavily toward no but it is evenly split right now. I think you must be registered at iwon.com to vote in the poll but check out the site and see if you can vote in it.

From iwon.com:

Testifying before a Senate committee, former Nixon White House counselor John Dean asserted Friday that President Bush's conduct in connection with a domestic spying program exceeds the wrongdoing that toppled President Nixon from power. The Senate, Dean said, should censure or reprimand Bush as proposed in a resolution by Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wisconsin). (AP)
Do you think the Senate should censure President Bush over conduct related to the domestic wiretapping program?

44% - Yes

44% - No

12% - I'm not sure

1. Given the way corporate media has spun it as "terra tappin' program"
or whatever-the-hell they call it, as opposed to the "Warrantless Surveillance Program" which is a more accurate term used throughout our own echo chamber, well, I agree with you. That is somewhat encouraging.

Because I pretty much assumed at this point that a majority of Americans were convinced that Bush was somehow only in hot water on account of having done wiretaps of terror suspects--without realizing that he'd obviously circumvented the existing law.

Maybe more Americans are a bit smarter than I realized. That is a good thing.

2. The media and the politicos are far, far behind the U.S. public
The privileged class does not get it. They just don't see or feel the anger out here. They slavishly report on the Right, which is getting noisier and even more obnoxious, and with good reason: They are losing, and they know it in their gut. The pushback is there for a reason.
Americans have had it, as every poll reflects, despite the DNC and others trying to ignore it.

5. A similar poll on excite.com had the same conclusion...
Excite usually leans to the right as well, but when I did the poll question on whether you approve of censuring the president, it was at a tie:

Do you think the Senate should censure President Bush over conduct related to the domestic wiretapping program?

Yes 48% => 3808 votes

No 48% => 3780 votes

I'm not sure 2% => 209 votes

Current number of voters: 7797

6. This seems like good news...
MSM makes it seem that NO ONE but Feingold wants * censured.
