Is it true that Limbaugh was blamed for the OKC bombing?
I thought I heard something about Clinton having denounced hate radio in the aftermath of the bombing much like he denounced TV/movie/videogame/music violence after Columbine. Is that true?

1. I blamed him...
As soon as I heard about it I said "This is the work of one of Limbaugh's crowd."

2. Limbaugh...
Ranted and railed against the US Government.

He siad how evil the Government was.

He said how awful President Clinton was.

He slyly encouraged people to resist the government.

Limbaugh was guilty of encouraging people like McVeigh to bomb the OKC Federal Building.

I mean he's against the government and the president, so obviously...

3. Clinton denounced hate radio - it was Limbaugh who claimed to be a target
of those remarks.

4. I don't think he said Limpball's name, but I also think that had a lot
to do with the bombing..hate radio is not a good thing, it only targets the hard radical right and or make borderline nuts go over the edge...

5. Typical Rush ego
He hears "hate radio" and assumes it's all about him. If anything, I think Clinton was referring to G. Gordon Liddy.

8. I don't know if it was just ego.
It may have been the one time in Rush's entire life when he had a moment of clarity and truth about what he's doing to America.

Was Timothy McVeigh a Republican?

Edit to add: YEP - HE WAS.

His only known affiliations are as a registered Republican in his New York days, and as a member of the National Rifle Association while he was in the Army.

Figures.

14. Has there been any NON-Republican in the past 20 years
who was a racist, mass murderer, homophobe, crook, child molester, wingnut, sexist, etc.?

10. He is the main person responsible for this act of extreme
violence. Every death can be laid at his doorstep!

11. I remember that, too.
Think back to the time - there were several RW hate radio jocks all fighting to be top dog since it was a pure gravy train. Milking money out of Freeps is like shooting fish in a barrel. So, they quickly learned that the more outrageous you were, the more freeps would lap it up and increase your ratings. You even had convicted felon, G. Gordon Liddy, counsel listeners to shoot federal officers in the head since they were probably wearing body armor. A stroke of genius by Limbaugh to scream victim. The mention of Clinton's name is always good to shake even more money out of the freepers.

12. The Bushies and hate-radio have encouraged
the kind of false macho (not real, of course) swaggering bravado that emboldens cowardly bullies who bomb abortion clinics, federal buildings, and commit violence against women, minorities, and gay people.
Newt infamously blamed liberals for Susan Smith murdering her two boys. Nevermind that her Republican committeeman stepfather had been molesting her as a child.
It was the liberals fault.
Yet their complicity in the Oklahoma bombing through inflammatory rhetoric remains unquestioned. So much for owning up to personal responsibility.
We still don't know how the unemployed McVeigh was able to travel around the country and buy explosives. His income has not been explained. Nor his contacts.
Just as the unemployed defrocked Presbyterian minister who shot an abortion doctor and his bodyguard in Florida. No employer for years. Yet...somebody or some organization was supporting him.
Hateradio doesn't want you to talk about McVeigh or Paul Smith. They know what radio stations those guys listened to as they planned their murders.

15. From Wikipedia...
"Shortly after the incident, President Bill Clinton criticized radio talk show hosts. "They spread hate. They leave the impression that, by their very words, violence is acceptable." Clinton did not mention anyone by name, but later singled out the conservative radio host G. Gordon Liddy (who had told his listeners to shoot federal ATF officers who had illegally entered their homes in the head rather than the chest because they wear bullet proof vests).<4>"

16. He didn't name Limbaugh
but Limbaugh was the most mainstream of the hatewingers . . . and also the tamest . . .

I remember a "Tom Tomorrow" cartoon where he pointed out that there was a bunch of RW talk radio DJs who made Rush look like a flaming liberal . . .
