Newest McKinney accusation: misspending taxpayer money...
Gah - If I don't mention it, someone who likes her less will...

From TPM:

"The jackals really are out for Cynthia McKinney. But, man, does she give them a lot to work with. A TV station in Atlanta is now reporting that McKinney spent around a $1000 worth of taxpayer money to fly Isaac Hayes to Georgia to help dedicate her new district office in Atlanta. This, as one would expect, is not allowed under congressional rules."

The most reasonable thing I can think of to say is: if true, then she's done something wrong. But BY GOD it looks like there's a concerted campaign afoot to fuck with her...

We'll see if there's anything to it I guess...

1. We liberals have to be above reproach in all we do.
That's the reality. McKinney is not the first to fall into the trap of a small violation of ethics. Clinton's mistake was even less important and look how he paid.

2. Sigh. It's true...
Still, it'd be nice if all of those 100s of small, page A17 violations done by republicans got the sort of exposure McKinney's getting....

3. Show me a black House rep the past 40 years who made waves
Edited on Mon Apr-03-06 09:12 PM by Neil Lisst
and I'll show you the same damn stories we are hearing now about Cynthia.

Adam Clayton Powell, anyone?

Any time a black rep gets "too far out there," they catch this orchestrated "he (or she) is crazy (or a terrible boss, or crooked, or communist, or blah blah blah).

I'm so sicked of seeing black reps treated like step children every time they get too out of line criticizing the powers that be.
